I really liked this game when it first came out and would love to see it remade with modern graphics and some new features like:

Give commands to the creature with voice

A more nuanced morality system, instead of good/evil

Random enemy creatures that use something like the nemesis system

Much, much larger villages that feel more alive

I started playing a pretty fun game I just learned about: It's a true God Game, more so than other games I've enjoyed like Populus or Black and White. You have limited capacity to directly command a huge variety of sapient creatures, but have absolute control over the world.

I was going to post Silent Hill 1 but apparently that's already been announced.

I don't know what the state of Square is today. If not infested then updated higher res pixel art, animations, and sound. Everything else the same for the most part.

Grand Theft Auto 4 needs to be remastered; it's trapped on the PS3.

Metal Gear Solid 4 needs to be remastered; it's trapped on the PS3.

Dragon Quest 8 needs to be remastered; it's trapped on the PS2 (well, the only good version anyway).

Bloodborne needs to be remastered with 60 FPS; it's trapped in 30 FPS hell from Year 1 PS4.

Metroid Prime 2 and 3 need to be remastered. They aren't trapped so much as that they just exist on pre-HD systems.

Chrono Trigger is possibly the best video game of all time*. Probably the best video game of the 20th century, almost definitely the best Super NES game of all time.

If it gets remade, they really just need to enhance it to HD2D like some of the other recent remakes. Spruce up the dialogue to flesh out character motivations and so forth. Add more content in the underutilized areas like 65,000,000 BC. Maybe even make 1999 AD explorable somehow, even if it's only during one of the endings. But generally stick pretty close to the original, only with modernized visuals that make it look the way our brains remember it looking.

What I DON'T want is for them to radically alter the game in any way, from changing the characters ability lineups to making it a Trials of Mana type 3D escapade. And for fuck's sake don't divide it into a trilogy of games over a 7 or 8 year release window like what happened to FF7.

* - I'd put Bioshock and Elden Ring over it, myself. Bloodborne, Super Metroid, Xenogears, and Final Fantasy Tactics also might all be in that bracket.

Before Black and White I remember enjoying Populous on the Amiga.

For me the only others that comes close are Ocarina of Time and Silent Hill. I played CT when I was 9 and it had a profound impact. Games before that were silly. Mario. Bump'n'Jump. Donkey Kong. CT was enchanting. I got lost in that world for a long time.

Elden Ring, Bloodborne, etc are fun but they don't enchant me in the same way. That magic was part of being a kid. I don't think it's possible for games to do that to me now.

I feel the same way. Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Bioshock are probably my three favorite post-2000 games, and none of them enchant me the way a bunch of things did in the 1990's. Things like Chrono, FFT, FF4/6/7/9, Xenogears, Super Mario 64. So it's really hard for me to compare modern games to pre-2000 games as a result and I don't think I can compare them fairly. I think ER and BB are both far better than any of those 90's games I just listed, but they didn't evoke the same magical feelings and probably never will. Nothing in Elden Ring evoked the same feelings of exploration that the Forest Temple did in Ocarina of Time.

Oh, OCARINA OF TIME needs a remake.

Not a close HD2D revamp like a CT should get. Not a remastering/upscaling like GTA4, MGS4, Prime 2+3, and DQ8 should get.

No, Ocarina of Time should get the full Demon Souls Remake treatment, a Bluepoint endeavor to make it as modern as possible visually. Ray tracing, realistic shadows, reflections, light beams, detailed moss on the stone walls. Everything.

The original Ogrebattle. One of the first tactical RPG's that I at least played with tons of different units. It only suffered from poor enemy AI and the system behind the battle map that turned it from tactical to zerg rush.

I would definitely check out a remade Populous. First semester at college I turned down a night out with the boys and a few girls we just met because a bro had it on his Sega which he had brought over that weekend.

I'd love to see some of the ol' NES games remastered with just better SNES quality. Kind of like how they did Super Mario All-Stars.

I'm not looking for anything fancy, but games like Guardian Legend, Ironsword, or the Disney classics would be good times.
