I do have to admit I have heard really nothing but positives about the game. Maybe at some point I could get into it but honestly the FF series has been dead to me since FF11 didn't allow me to jump and I like many others bounced to World of Warcraft and never looked back.

Although I have to say the FF7 remake does get me half chubbed.

FF7 remake has me full chubb, but yeah XIV's expansion early release next Friday has me pumped as fuck for the next couple months, that's for sure. It's amazing how little I care about BFA's "big 8.2 patch" by comparison.

G/F and I are picking up a couple copies of FF14 Shadowbringers and playing from scratch. I havent played my old character since Reborn, and I honestly didnt have a lot of complaints then. Just ran out of content to do. Again, like has been said - barely any complaints about the game have registered with me internally. I dont PVP and even though the UI is archaic, I still got used to it. Its not like we havent played with bad UI's before.

I'm interested in Classic only because of the people that are going to play it, not the game. Which, for a game thats taken up so much of my life .. sad times.

FF14 has a bunch of stuff that's better than WoW and a bunch that's worse.

Dungeons and Raids are much more exciting and as a healer it's easier and more fun to target and heal people.

Outdoor zones are far worse, they feel empty and the quests are very slow and restrictive. Typically you have to hand in quests to multiple NPCs because they are role-playing their story and telling you shit while you bash skip.

The story is hit and miss just like WoW.

It's probably better to give up on MMOs to be honest.

I mean she isn't ugly, just pretty average plus the nerd speak probably adds +1. Now if you said you were into this, then you would need to be perma banned from the forums.

Also I think this is Noodleface Noodleface 's fetish.

How many people could this really impact?

Paragon Boxes and Artifact Power
When you hit 10k bonus reputation with a faction, you talk to the faction's Emissary and turn in a quest, which gives you a Paragon Box for the faction. Currently, opening the box will grant you War Resources, 2,500 Artifact Power and some faction specific rewards.

However, this is changing in Rise of Azshara, with the "opening the box" no longer containing 2,500 Artifact Power. The 2,500 Artifact Power has been moved to when you turn in the quest at the Emissary.

This means that all currently held Paragon Boxes will no longer provide Artifact Power when the Patch launches. Any extra boxes that have not been turned into the Emissary will still award 2,500 Artifact Power when you turn in the quest.

Impact of the Change
This change is likely to combat players who have been hording caches, alongside the Artifact Power increase in Blizzard's attempt to disincentive grinding Artifact Power before the Season begins.

As you can only hold one of each Paragon box, players who want to optimize for the new patch are doing the following:

  • Holding 6 total Paragon boxes in the inventory
  • Capped at 19,999 reputation in each of the 6 reputations for an effective 2 more Paragon boxes
However, now they are losing 15,000 Artifact Power from the held boxes, but still have 30,000 Artifact Power saved in reputation.

More than the xp off thing. Every mythic raider who is in a cutting edge guild who gets it in the first month has been saving their boxes for weeks I am sure. Those fuckwads grind every world quests every day for the rep boxes.

They did this same shit in legion with emmisary boxes between major patches/seasons. They nearly always go back and knee cap potential hoarding by people trying to get a jump on things. You can still bank up a shit load if you paragon everything and DON'T turn anything in before the patch. The other thing you can do is run a shit load of islands stockpile up the AP quest items you get from them and then once the patch 8.2 hits run around and hand them all in they are all like 700-1k AP so it can add up pretty fast.

This is a good video of someone coming from WoW to FFXIV.

It's always the same thing, people went through most of WoW easily accessible content, want more easily accessible content to discover and don't care about anything else. It's 2019, you're not bound for life to any MMO, just play whatever you want, the whole refugee thing is just a gimmick for people with IRL druid shoulder or "For the Horde" calf tattoos to change their Pepe wall poster with a Chocobo one. 95% of people won't make a video about it.

Quality wise it's been known for years FFXIV is a solid WoW alternative PvE content wise, if you can be arsed dealing with locked animations and 2.5s GCD. The game is healthy, has a decent community and lots of present and upcoming content. WoW relies too much on autogrouping / streamlined content, while FFXIV one some level uses socialization. Competitive FFXIV will cater to a larger crowd while WoW's is a gear treadmill that will antagonize people at some point.

Most MMO nowadays have a feature where you can play with your friends. Play with them, change game with them, make new friends, reacquaintance with old friends, just don't abandon ship because some guy you don't know did.
