GoD was so bad it was considered a prank. Nameless nonsense NPCs, hnxxiejsenfu xhjahf. Faceless and generic. You can't name one piece of fucking story or a named mob from that expansion. Hey we got to the boss xxjaqq xzZzt.

PoTime zone still being somewhat relevant carried GoD a little longer than it should.

I don't think Blizzard has ever released a GoD.
Maybe you can pronounce the names better but Shadowlands IS the shark jump expansion.

I might have been unclear as I'm hardly awake. I meant PoP was the last good expansion for many so I kinda put Legion in there as well as comparison. But for me personally and my guild PoP is what killed it for EQ but we were in a Family "Raid" guild so could not really enjoy PoP for what it was.

All I'm saying it's it will probably go the same way and shitting out bad expansions just like EQ untill no one plays it anymore.

My guild died in PoP as well. We cracked Elemental Planes, suffered a mass loss in players/leadership, no one wanted to rebuild, and the guild died (although not before the guild leaders left looted the banks and peaced out).

Then without a guild, I tried to get into other guilds, but got denied because people assumed I was a spy for our former guild leader (who was pretty unpopular on the server) or was accused of "war crimes" by one guild because my guild helped wake the Sleeper way back in Velious lol. So I quit EQ. I only went back once in 2005 maybe for like 10 minutes? After having played WoW for a bit, EQ just seemed too dated and I immediately logged out again.

I think it's just become fun to pile on Blizzard. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with this expac, the only issue is the absolutely fucking glacial pace of patches.

To be fair, it's hard to be a "content" guy in shadowlands with 6 month patch schedules with an even longer presumed drought of content where the content you have gotten so far all looks and feels like Torghast which was bad and boring to begin with.

The stigma of supporting Blizzard's actions by playing the game alone has stopped most people and with the meta swinging towards FFXIV it's even harder to justify spending resources(opportunity cost) towards much fewer players and I don't see a positive catalyst for WoW anytime soon, the earliest would be at the next expansion that is already going to get a hard pass on principle.

With New World and Ashes of Creation practically at our doorstep, WoW is in for some very dark days ahead.

"Big named" Content people are jumping ship now which is to be expected.

Isn't that the fat fucking retard who made a video about how high end changes didn't impact non elites? Wasn't he shitting on people complaining about the wow latest patches and now he's quitting because ...the game is shit?

Get fucked retard.
Before people go "reeeee virtue signaling", the whole video is about gameplay and how Blizzard has been handling the game.
What the fuck are you talking about? did you fucking listen to his voice? his REASON NUMBER ONE is because of what happened at blizzard and 'it's too hard to get over it'.

Literally the first fucking thing he mentions.

Yes he goes in detail on how the game sucks, but his words are REASON NUMBER IS BECAUSE RAPE IS BAD.

It won't surprise me in the slightest if the next expansion is delayed a year or two.

Nah he is a fucktard for thinking that the changes were not for the elite player base. He never liked them but he seems to think that they only benefitted the Timmy players because the uber players had to suffer them and would just power through anyway.

He never liked them and thought they sucked but couldn't take off the former method player glasses to realize what he was saying.

it will be delayed for sure. They're most likely gonna hit the reset button on the whole thing and build it from scratch. One has to remember that they're already very deep into the next exp work. So scrapping all of that is gonna be a major blow time wise. But the have to do that because the alternative is to pump out the same shit content which people aint gonna sub to no more just out of nostalgia or FOMO. The need to purge about 90% of the current systems (gear progression via idiotic time gated rng patch/exp exclusive currency etc), come up with a single sustainable system which will last multiple expansions without needing major game altering band-aid fixes every single time, rewrite story to resemble something even close to coherent , rework mythic+, get rid of at least 1 raiding level (lfr and/or normal), re-invent daily activities not to be same fill the bar or collect 15 bear asses for meaningless/soon outdated rep/low gear, make crafting actually have an impact. You can't do any of that with current team to begin with since most of them are attached to whatever system they helped to design what's in the game right now, because they will defend it till the end.

Tinfoil hat time:
1. My main man Bobbeh is gonna announce sweeping changes to the top brass of the entire WOW team and individual departments and massive company wide structural changes to the way they make games as a whole. On WoW side Ion (he can't possibly survive this) and all the other fuckers are gone. Most if not all dev teams are gonna get new leads. Who the department leads are is gonna determine the direction and the future of the game. It's either over the cliff and into death in the lifespan of the next expansion if woke crowd take overs or it's gonna make a slow recovery if competent people are gonna be put in charge.
2. Future SL patches are delayed.
3. They announce scrapping the next exp and starting over.
4. Expected release date 2024? maybe
5. WoW will go subscription free until new expansion. Or they will do a different/reduced payment plan.

If Blizzard wants to turn things around -somewhat-, the next expansion better make Legion look like a cheap whore. I mean they need to go back on all the things they've been promising for years or decades and just DO IT. Poach everything from other games that works and makes people want to go elsewhere and add it in with the "Blizzard Touch" (and no I don't mean touching Nancy from accounting's ass).

It feels like WoW's meteoric rise was barely earned and as such its downfall is equally meteoric.. when it rains it pours I guess.

But yeah, I think it's still salvageable if they stop trying to treat the game as a casino and pick up the slack.

I'm betting 90% of the offended would care a lot less if the game was good and fun and had content. But when you're bored, you read the back of the box of cereals, or in this case, lawsuit news.

They don't have the balls or talent to do any of that. Even if they did it would take them a lot longer than 5 years to develop at the pace they seem to make anything. If they stopped and scrapped everything from the next expansion they've already made and totally changed the direction that means that any of that is an additional 2 years out at the absolute minimum.

Or more likely the devs keep thinking that the players are morons & double down (again) on their shitty systems and design decisions.

all the streamers/casters/tubers leaving covering WoW that I've watched cited poor systems, bad expansion, slow dev time, rotten storytelling, micro transactions and have only mentioned the sexual harassment stuff as a sort of "well if they have time to fuck around why don't they have time to make the game good".

I haven't seen anyone virute signal yet as their principle reason. (though admitidly i don't follow many, i just see them linked in threads like this and on reddit).

I could see them doing almost all of this except making it free to play/reduced. You can’t go back from that. I could see them shifting some focus towards more revenue generating mechanisms for classic servers.

It was and it wasn't. Some of it was due to their name still meaning something back in 2004 and that they definitely earned. Most of it was just due to WoW coming out at exactly the right time as MMOs were just starting to hit mainstream gaming rather than just being something a few gross nerds did. and Everquest going to absolute shit in the years leading up to WoW coming out helped a bit too.

Right, WoW was timed just perfectly with EQ shitting the bed and we all saw how that turned out in the long run.

I have to suspect at some point someone, somewhere, on that team as a solution to falling numbers said "hey, battlepasses work well! lets make a hidden battlepass and turn this into a seasons-style game". Then we got the stupid borrowed power daily grind-a-thon or you'll fall behind bullshit. People accepted it in Legion because it was "new" at the time, but the fact the past couple expansions past that kept doing the same thing soured everyone on it. If they are serious about righting the ship, at bare minimum they need to

1) Get rid of borrowed power shit
2) Tone down dailies or make them quick-hit things (like FF14 beast tribes)
3) Improve ability to play alts (ie, remove need to regrind rep on alts)
4) Actually have a story that respects their prior story - stop retconning every couple years, having insane mood/personality swings for characters, etc
5) Create more meaningful and varied casual content
