Wanting to play this - haven't since about six months after it launched. Struggling to find info on what server to play on and how many characters you're allowed per account. I don't think any server allows two accounts ? Mainly interested in harvesting and crafting but I guess I'd be better off starting a combat character first ?

I fired this up again the other day and had the usual return-to-mmo feelings:

th-181147706.jpg

My house was condemned so I payed up to get back in and did some piloting to build up some cash.

I had a bunch of resource waypoints on my crafter and it hit me later that I must have had a second account. I checked and sure enough I did. They have a restriction where you can only run an account from a single machine, so I booted my server machine into windows to fire it up.

I wanted to see if I had a bunch of harvesters on fire or whatever.

Between now and the last time I played they've updated the patcher alot and it no longer works with windows below 10. My server machine (which hasn't been in windows in years) has 8.1 so it wouldn't let me launch the launcher after patching it up.

Usually these kinds of compatability quirks are total bullshit. Debugging I saw that the first issue I hit was the old VirtualAlloc kernel call was renamed in 10, as far as I can tell purely to pull an apple and force people to upgrade, but there were other problems after that.

So I booted back to linux and tried running it under wine but didn't have much luck. It did login though. It got really hot and I didn't want to have the server on so I started working on the wine thing on my main machine.

Eventually got it working but the login attempts on the different OS's made someone suspicious so they flagged my account for "verification". I looked at it, and it's some crazy photo ID verification thing using stripe.

That seems a bit... excessive for an emulator server :emoji_laughing:

I've been playin infinity. It is fun but there's no space stuff.

Has quite a lot of convenience and annoyance removal:

You can pick a direction and difficulty on missions so you don't sit there refreshing 100 times.
No survey/sample gimmicks to try to stop afk players mining
Modify your stats whenever, no need for an image designer
Speeders don't slow down over water

Here's a funny shot of me as a poverty stricken newb being robbed by the ATF because my knife was modified.

I missed him the first time :D

I got my ass beat in the phase 4 quest but finished it up. I need to buy some more armor and figure out how mind buffs work.

This almost looks like a ship piece:

On my server, I put in a hack to let you use the ship terminals to travel, I wonder if this is for that same idea.

So back in ye olden tymes, the village phase changes were 3 weeks long, and you needed 6 full branches (4 skill boxes) of force stuff to start jedi initiate.

Here the phases are 3 days, and you only need 4 to start, AND the forcey skill boxes don't cost any skill points. All great changes.

Saw some sus art and sure enough one of them has extra fingers :emoji_laughing:

The more I play the more I like it.

The bank safety deposit holds 500 items so I thought I wouldn't bother with houses. I remembered this thought yesterday as I was operating 3 factories next to my big ass house.

I think you can have 7 characters with 3 online at once.

Travel between planets can use shuttlecraft (though not player town shuttles) so you don't have to do that annoying run through the starports. I never realized how much time this wasted.

Most of the doc bots give free buffs to accounts under 2 weeks old, though I always tipped them 10 or 15 grand after to be nice.

There's loads of stuff to buy. The only thing I've found that is kinda scarce are schematics for that eta-1 thing I found a few posts up. It looks like it is some kind of personal shuttle thing.

It needs parts built by master artisan, armorsmith, tailor, droid engineer, and architect. I have all those now apart from the armorsmith as the schematics haven't been for sale. The tailor and armorsmith need 6 and you can't factory them.

I spent almost a whole day just making cute clothes, and then got a bit into the "glowing wet noodle" phase of jedi where it takes 5 minutes to kill a cow.

I figured out that sabers suck and I'm now blasting stuff straight to hell with lightning :emoji_laughing:

Some random screens:

When a good resource spawns:

This bunny followed me all the way into town. It seemed at home in the cantina, so I left it there. Hopefully someone took care of it, but more likely it was murdered.

This junk tentacle monster is my hero. Buys all the crap weapons I had layin around. I had 5 full cabinets in my house.

Huge crowd of afk people fishing or something. Reminded me of black desert.

A sword I made with a rancor tooth I found. It was one of those that has a sort of yellow name. I know there are small chances for exceptional and legendary, but maybe yellow is just "more-gooder" or something.

There's a twitch streamer starting a server today:

They've got 100 people on. Seems like there's alot of wacky changes.

Kinda fun to watch a brand new server. Big groups, running around on foot etc :D

I'm still horribly addicted to this. Juggling 7 characters and mining and questing and such.

Been trying to figure out searches. They are annoying. There's a branch of the force sensitive stuff called Persuasion that I don't have yet. I was thinking that would be how to avoid them.

But then my brand new padawan that hadn't earned a single point of jedi experience and got jedi through crafting avoided a search:

Then my real Jedi failed 😆

Neither have Persuasion yet, but I'm gonna get it on 5 characters tomorrow morning.

So turns out Persuasion only seems to help you if you have a force bar, aka finished the Paddy trials. And even then often doesn't work, though one of my characters is 100%.

Leveling the stuff in heightened senses is brutal though. The fastest way is making musical instruments and turning in the xp right there in the village. For my 6 characters I was going to need to make 18,400 slitherhorns. I've knocked out around 13,000 so far. It is tedious.

Yea I have one that loops forever through 3 tools, and then I reprogrammed my mouse side button to quad-click. That loads the metal (2 metal slots in the recipe).

So I just have to listen for the clicky crunchy sound and then hit the side button on my mouse and look now and then watch for when I hit the xp cap, hit my /dump key and then turn the xp in.

I can kinda watch videos while I do it, so been watching holo gta and stuff :D

My doctor character did all four branches of heightened senses so I grabbed the title "Heightened Senses Master". I think people will see that and avoid me like "That person is crazy or autistic or both"
