IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

It would be faster and more cost efficient to use the loss of old COBOL developers as an excuse to modernize those systems. And use AI to do that faster. That's more likely than someone trying to sit there and train AI on the custom COBOL codebases.

Its cowboy bebop lite, on the water.

The AI call agents are getting very good at sounding human very quickly. It's gone from "Tell me a bit about what you need" in a stiff, robotic voice and then stilt/lifeless acknowledgements to close enough to human that you might be fooled if you weren't paying attention, and they are only...

    Friends

Somewhat related to this thread and making/keeping friends. This documentary was pretty interesting: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26081864/ Essentially, Americans have largely stopped creating/joining clubs/associations/groups. And individualism has been on the rise for decades. In other...

Why would we hope that? There seems to be this major disconnect where people believe AI can be a software developer but for some reason those same people believe AI can't do whatever it is that they do in their job. "AI will replace software devs but not me!" AI can get trained on anything it...

That won't stop executives that dont understand it from outsourcing, which is already happening en masse.

At the beginning of the 2nd episode when he wins the money and walks into the liquor store there are bottles of "Erijah Craig" whiskey on the shelf. I love when the japs make fun of themselves a bit.

This is not far off from what the future of AI is going to be. Once everyone is completely dependent on it, and most companies have replaced people who actually know how to do the job without it with outsourced, low-cost, low-IQ workers.

    Diablo II - Resurrected

Patch notes are up for S13. Pretty lousy changes overall if I'm being honest. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zjrY4dlzvoRD8ftYxkqALc2M-nfq3GKVLhCCxA8yIB0/preview?pru=AAABnaI_9no*vMsFLWfGpLNGyYRlbY5y9w&tab=t.0#heading=h.9kegd15e6zbz

I am in this camp, I like coding because its a creative process. AI kind of (not completely but kind of) removes that creative process. It's kind of like if you spent 20 years being an author and suddenly the world decided now you have to be an editor because authors are passe.

Its also really not difficult to utilize or use.

It sounds a bit like you're not even attempting to use AI at all because of preconceived notions @Deathwing

    Diablo II - Resurrected

I don't know if we should split this into a separate thread or not at this point but, it's that time again. Project Diablo 2 resets on April 24th and closed beta for the new season starts tomorrow. Pretty small patch this time:

    Paradise

Yea I didnt realize this was only supposed to be 3 seasons. I like the beginning of the season because I thought it was world building setup. Turns out it was just wasted screen time.
