I guess it might be called MMO for marketing reasons only, that would be a plus in my eyes. I'm really not in the market for "bigger than a group" content these days. I would love more Horizon for the interesting setting, and a Monster Hunter style game seems perfect for it.

Meaning you have not played Gloomhaven? I would probably start with that. I think complexity creep in Frosthaven leads to a more tedious experience overall.

I think we are, or rather they are past that. Nobody of value would climb onto that sinking ship. That's probably why they only have a team of bluehairs, interns and fresh grads for a project like D4. It's all they can get.

I'm gonna say it's obvious that Blizzard wanted a big piece of PoEs MTX pie, and while a box sale gets you a feet in the door, a game without retention won't have great numbers for MTX month after month.
