Your character gets weaker as you progress through the campaign much like almost every arpg when you jump difficulties (normal/nightmare/hell, or whatever system the game uses). It's countered by the fact that you get better gear, more abilities, etc.

Bought a 10div warmonger base earlier with t1 flat phys and some crit dmg and hit a fracture on perfect flat phys, and then dumped the rest of my current currency into trying to craft it mostly unsuccessfully. Only about 200 divs total investment so far, so still not in bad shape all things...

Yeah, I feel like the combo of stories being all over the place from leagues coming and going and getting all jumbled together and then the tons and tons of typical sjw/woke trash all over the place just makes it bleh. More power to you if you want to actually listen to the lore etc. though...

I think that paying zero attention to any of the 'story' in poe 1 or 2 is the best way to go about it, personally.
