It felt like they didn't want to end the movie the same way as the first one, with a clean revenge victory; but instead make it a catalyst for movie 3, so felt a little forced.

There's any number of places in the world you can just vanish into if you can avoid leaving much of a travel trail (and even then, sometimes) but I doubt they go much for that :p

Something tells me John Wick 3 won't be him in the Amazon forest drinking tea and whittling for 100 minutes....

He's going to to kill all the bosses. ALL the bosses. Then he'll become Grand Overlord Wick and he'll retire setting off the search for his heir which will be the next series of Wick movies they can do with multiple different protagonists.

So if people have wards/guards like Ruby rose and Commons character, that was essentially Dafoe in the first one correct? Or was Dafoe just his mentor/friend?

Thats a terrible comparison. One movie was Tarantino doing cable/wires and then you have GunMMafu. Quentin did a foreign fight but it was wire and his certain shots. Quentin did his take on adapting wire fu after hidden tiger. The diialoage sucked in those movies

Tarentino would maybe help writing but he wouldnt ever bother directing, mayby help write if the brothers were involed directing

What I think they are doing with the bulletproof suit is stretching our limits of believe-ability. You're already on board with fifty year old assassin murdering Russian gangsters. Then you're on board with a secret group of assassins with some intense amounts of power. Then they introduce the bulletproof suit.

It's like a kid stepping into a cold pool. He's doing it slowly instead of jumping in all at once. That's what the creators of this franchise might be doing for the majority audience. Easing them into the fantasy.

I think this a very appropriate perspective. It is complete fantasy and I think being comfortable with that is better for the films/audience. It's silly when people say it's realistic (ooh, a reload!). No, it's crazy unrealistic, but that's okay, because as super hero and Tolkien films show, fantasy is good shit.

Only two complaints (and they are so minor it feels petty mentioning):

1) music was better in the first
2) overuse of the bulletproof suit mechanic.

Otherwise I thought it was awesome.

Yeah, I hated the overuse of the bulletproof suit. I still loved the movie don't get me wrong, but they could have done without that part.

I was surprised the sign language chick was totally beat down and didn't stand a chance against John. I totally expected her to come close to killing him because that's the in thing to do. Womens power and all!

So this is how I want number three to start.

It picks up seconds after this one where he is still running. The hour mark hits and he fights a few people in a running battle. He is starting to lose badly and he gets saved out of nowhere. They pull him into a subway or something. It is a group of assassins that were also excommunicated.

Not sure how he is going to call in the marker from Winston.

That utter demolishing of a non tired woman by a completely beat down man was refreshing.

I wonder if they gave Ruby Rose sign language because she can't act. Even with just sign language and expressions I feel like she isn't a good actor

my only issue is
he brought the dog with him. DON'T YOU GET THAT DOG KILLED, JOHN WICK.

I wish he had left the dog with Lt Daniels

Yeah I wasn't sure what that marker was. Whether it was the completed one, or a fresh one presumably with john owing Winston for the hour grace period. Probably the latter... perhaps Winston knows john is such a badass that he'll come out the other end ok, and Winston will somehow call in a favor to gain some power somehow?

Except that theory requires John's blood to be in there as the beginning, no? Needs clarification, preferably in the form of more headshots.

No the person receiving the marker doesn't need blood in it..... how does that even become a discussion? You saw the marker from the first guy, it has the person giving it and their bloody fingerprint only.

This is a fresh one from Winston with his fingerprint, not even up for debate.

I would say Common has a (good) chance to be alive, as he tried to kill John because John killed his charge and they seemed to have a mutual respect and he told him he could live.

John pulled the knife out of Ruby Rose didnt he? I assumed he did and it was a call back to him telling Common that, by leaving the knife in, he was giving him a chance to survive and he was not giving her that chance.

I think the fact their parting conversation matched his last words with Viggo Tarasov in the first movie means she'll see him in Hell, so to speak.

So you're implying Winston owes John? Or somehow I've completely misinterpreted how the marker system works?

John's marker with Santino had John's blood in it, to signify that John owed Santino a favor. When it was completed, Winston made Santino add HIS blood to it to complete it. At least, that's what I inferred, as it makes zero sense for Santino to put his own blood in it twice. "Here, I've put my blood in this thing, you owe me!"

So by whatever your logic is, you're saying that Winston has put his blood in that marker and given it to John? Signifying... what exactly?

The fact that Winston gave a marker to John (given the owed person seems to hold on to it to later call in the favor) seems to suggest that it was the completed Santino marker that Winston gave to John, which was one of my possible theories.

Signifying him he owes him a favor later on, that's what the marker system is.

John puts his blood in to a blank marker, he owes Santino. He gives this marker to Santino for him to cash in someday. Santino cashes in. John finishes his task. Santino puts his blood in then it is complete. The marker itself is a worthless trinket. Nothing John could use it for other than a chew toy for his dog.

Winston puts his blood in to a blank marker, he owes John. He gives this marker to John for him to cash in someday. The rest will be in John Wick 3.

Whomever starts the marker process is the ower.

How are you not getting this?

Yeah what I'm not getting is why the fuck Winston would owe John. Explain that, and I'll be good.
