I actually really like your description of OG 7 combat, in that you never had to do the crazy materia combos to win the regular game, but people who wanted to delve into the deeper layers could. Honestly even on Normal, I don't think you have to be any master at this combat to beat the game...

What generation do you think I am from? I started with FF 1 back on the NES. I'm saying the way this guy described the combat in this game, there are clear red flags that he wasn't very good/efficient with it.

I thought they said ShB would reveal 80% of the backstory for all that, but not actually wrap it all up. Wonder if there were some translation issues with all the different versions. Frankly I can't see them actually wrapping that whole story up in just the rest of this expansion.

Agreed on Alphinaud for the most part. I'll disagree ShB is the only story worth playing, I think all of the rest is pretty good, although ARR drags until the end in many points. But ShB is definitely head and shoulders above the rest.

M13 always feels pretty good as far as control. Sometimes the damage is lacking, though. Slightly slower fire rate than an M4 or even the Grau (I think?). It does feel smooth, though.

Every game is different. Definitely have some crazy games where it's just battle after battle in one area that is fun as hell. Contracts and money system adds some layers to how you want to play it, from where you land to how you go through mid game, too.

I guess with flying and just the overall HW story from 3.0 through 3.3 was considered just a step above. Obviously the very end of ARR was some good stuff maybe on par, but most liked HW more than Stormblood.
