The welcome challenge gives you some rapport gifts. If you give a few to Thirain you can push him to level 2 and get 200g. If you do this then when you are done with Luterra Castle quests you should have like 520g.

It's because they have so much gold. A bot can make over 500 gold from tutorial quest just getting to Luterra Castle, which takes about 2 hours.

While that is pretty bad, and something I've seen quite a bit, it's not just ilvl. It's engravings and gems at tier 2 and tripod bonuses at tier 3.
