i find myself often 'rotating' around the foes till i see them commit then i risk attacking or drinking. i end up not watching for tells as often as i just wait for them to overextend.

I like armor for stacking poise for a shield build. able to take blows without staggering save for boss super hits. and those you don't stamina deplete you just knock back or flail your arms a sec.
