99% of it is your relative level. A lvl 43 6* lightning is substantially weaker than a lvl 80 5* lightning. For awakening mats just push the story, they'll accumulate on their own.

Random tip for the distant future, don't fuse all your Hayates. While his 6* is pretty shitty, it does gain reduce encounters which is very handy when you start stacking it with other Hayates/charm bangles/diabolos
