All I remember is Brad making 1,000 word posts on why we should play Vanguard only to find out he hadn't been in the office months leading up to launch.
What I still don't understand is why Brad would destroy what's left of his reputation for a few extra bucks. The whole dev team hates him now and no investor/publisher in their right mind is going to give him any money... and all for what? 20 thousand dollars?
Utter nonsense.
By that logic a game like EvE should have been a complete failure while games like SWG and ESO should be successes. These super massive MMO's just don't work anymore, the market is saturated with them. There's a place for a game like EvE, just like there would be a place for a...
I don't think the people that want a group focused PvE game that harkens back to EQ1 while adding some new things is only a few hundred people on this board. Look at how much interest Pantheon got even though it was a total disaster; that type of game doesn't exist anymore... so if one was made...
As a former Vanguard player, and hence Silius-hater, it would take a lot to make me feel sorry for him. But it sounds like he and the rest of the team got fucked over pretty bad by Brad.
He was saying on KTAM that he wanted to make a 4-player co-op open-world game before they attempted to...
Some people will white knight Brad til the end for one simple reason: this was going to be the only group PvE game on the horizon. I mean what else is there?
EQ2 - Possibly the worst combat system in MMO history.
WoW: WoD - Solo leveling with some possible high end raiding that will last 3-4...
The saddest part is this was a huge missed opportunity, it's not like there wasn't enough people wanting to play a game like this. People were very excited prior to the KS and were completely shocked to find how poorly the KS page was organized.
I don't think any of us care until they actually have a pre-alpha version to show people... let alone secure enough funding to actually finish this thing.
Is this new campaign really that much better? I was so disappointed by the original... I only got like ~3 hours into before I quit. The engine just felt much too limited, there was no exploration; the old SNES version had more freedom than it did.
