Ok, it appears to be just a local bug- deer and pigs die normally elsewhere, but at the bugged area there were around 15 deer milling around and after killing around a dozen (eventually, took 3-5 arrows each) the place looked like THIS- And each of those is a 20 stack of meat or 50 deer hide...

Popped on to your server, built my house a bit north from the start point. One thing- please god, whatever you did to the deer and pigs, turn it back or at least down a bit- I get 20 second pauses when the game tries to render 300+ items at once.

Yup, I wear lvl 1 troll hide when I go sailing etc so I dont really care if I die that much. Exploring I carry a portal kit for getting stuff home or settiing up in interesting places if its a keeper, and if it is I use it to go home and set up a new portal and get another kit to take with me...

Go sailing around the various coastlines till you find swamp- be aware that swamps that are thin tend to not have any crypts in them, so look for ones that are a bit deeper. Similarly, thin mountians tend to have no obsidian or silver.

The trees have to creep back from the edges but the branches have no trouble spawning in the middle of huge open spaces even when you can only barely see the nearest remaining trees with a telescope. :P

Try to lure 2 star or at least 1 star boars if you can. They breed 1 or 2 star piglets which give more meat

Flint respawns, dungeon critters do not, nor do rocks. Trees might verrrrry slowly.
