I've spent most of my career in automotive, some medical/iot/automation. Python/Ruby for testing/data processing. A little C#/C++ here and there. 95%+ in C.
I've used Dictionaries in Python a few times so I am familiar with the concepts; it just seemed a bit much and a bit open-ended to...
As a Firmware guy, the question they gave me was: Implement a hash SDK in C without using arrays. lolwut
I've had to use hash tables once in my entire career and that was in Python for testing.
The stuff I have seen was a little more involved than that. When I interviewed with a chip manufacturer for a pre-silicon team, it was 4 hours of programming exercises with 4 different people. It sucked.
Side note, after I told Amazon to pound sand, they came back and said they could give me...
A year ago it would have been a humble brag but right now salaries are all over the place, even remote- anyone with decent skills, good communication, good work ethic, etc. should be able to make 150k+ base with a little searching.
The Amazon range is admittedly pretty high for remote work...
Amazon recruiter contacted me about a 300k job. Big tech is really going big on salaries in this environment. I agree to talk to them about it and they send me a package that includes like 2 hours of coding exercises and who knows how many (3-4?) hours of recommended prep work.
Fuck. Off...
They are adding a lot of stuff but I don't see getting around the fundamental tediousness of the game. I got my hours out of it but I probably won't be coming back.
Also, I'd really like to see them focus some effort on optimization.
I bought this game for PS4 at release and put it away due to the shitshow. Now that they have achieved the greatest redemption story arc in the history of video game companies, and my PS4 is in a landfill, is it worth buying for PC at half price?
Yeah Valheim is superb and they are just SO SLOW with updates.
I'm thinking about picking this up but I am wondering if it's a trap. Plus no one I know wants to play it. How is it solo?
How does PvE (or G) and PvP work in this game? If I start a server with friends, do we build a castle together or separately? I assume we can co-op against bosses? Are there any non-vampire PCs?
$20 for a license and I get the experience, some level of herd management, and a freezer full of venison.
What is it you always say? Poaching is "for poors". Dipshit.
I made it to 25 and did the quest chain to get into the first expedition and couldn't find a group running it. Seems like everyone is doing end game stuff or carrying a guildee through. Maybe the dungeon finder will help with this sort of thing. Otherwise it's probably the end of the game...
Urlithani, bro, you miscounted the number of kids you have. You essentially have a 3rd one.
I've been married for 20 years; my wife can be a giant pain in the ass and I would fucking never get into a second marriage if I were to divorce now but holy fuck I guess I really have nothing to...
Kinda bummed that this game shows some promise and they seem to have completely lost the opportunity with the fucked up release. Very little bump from the free weekend and discount.
I do see newbies around town and sometimes at quest sites. I've been playing around with tradeskills a little more to see if there is anything profitable.
There isn't even a mod for gear sets?
Biggest turnoff for me so far has been that it is 100% solo early game. Sometimes you just want to be by yourself but it is also nice to start meeting people and learning group dynamics in a Blackburrow/Ragefire.
The most surprising piece of that is that they ignored the warnings about duping. The game is so heavily dependent on tradeskills and the economy. They should have just wiped early on.
Has that shit worked itself out of the system for the most part? I have found that I have been able to sell...
I joined Valhalla. Do we have a guild on some other server? I'm only like level 17 so I could reroll.
edit - btw I chose marauders just because I don't know wtf I am doing.
As I mentioned above, I decided to pick it up after playing for free this weekend. Nice QoL features and the game has some interesting concepts but I'm not sure what the staying power is going to be for me.
I joined a "medium" population server and I definitely notice that the world feels...
I tried it out for a couple of hours for the free weekend and ultimately decided to purchase so I could play around with the Trade Post (which still isn't working even after purchase). Interesting game early on but I understand some of the systems may not scale well. Seems like a fair trade...
Yeah the story isn't very coherent. Like how am I going down in a spaceship and spacesuit but I am building stone tools and armor out of vegetation? The food, water, O2, storm damage, etc. all feel a little too tedious.
One of my kids and I decided to give this one a shot. Whenever I find something he is interested in playing together, I just roll with it.
Anyone still playing this game? I didn't know much about it going into it and it's as hard as a wedding dick. We're figuring it out but god damn.
Wondering if you guys could comment on a couple of gaming PCs I am looking at. I am shooting for about $2k or less. Based upon what I am seeing, this probably means I am going to getting some i7 variant and a 3070.
This seems like a pretty good deal. I am wondering about the cooling plan...
Yeah more like Subnautica.
You guys are tough crowd. Not that I always agree with Steam ratings but it's at 95% thumbs up and is sitting in the top 5. The basic systems are there, work, and are interesting enough to have kept me playing around 20 hours. At least 5 tech trees with a...
I decided to create a thread for this because it is so damn good for the price and being EA. I've put about 20 hours into this and it is a great concept if you're into the genre.
Factorio meets Empyrion but very toned down on the survival aspect so very chill. In fact, I have only died once...
So why the hate for NewEgg? I've purchased stuff from them a few times and never had any issues.
I'm in the market for a new gaming rig. I'd really rather buy a prebuilt so that I can avoid the time and risk of DIY but I am open to arguments as to why I should. I get it that some people are...
