I doubt his resume got him the job. Once you've established yourself in the industry, then usually your next job is because of personal relationships. Somebody at the new company worked with you before and can vouch for you, etc, etc. Resumes are only important when you are new to the industry...

Great to see Koji Igarashi going off on his own and so many people rushing to support him. We need more creative powerhouses to break their corporate shackles.

I wouldn't be surprised if EQN is canned. And their reasoning that WoW style mmo's are over is partially true, but only for them. Because they are incompetent morons who couldn't take a great IP like Everquest and create something worthwile. They don't have the talent or leadership to make a...

Most people know what a PTW game is like, especially in PvP. Since I'm just a casual outside observer, I have no proof that this game is PTW, but it sure seems to be trending in that direction. Perhaps I am wrong and you can correct the impression.

Agree. Have only been following this casually, but I'm starting to get the impression that this game has lost it's way and has become just another cash grab, Pay To Win title. I'll buy the game when it's released and then delve into the inner workings of how to play / win. But if I am...

Been playing again off and on since the beginning of the year. Guild is mia so mostly solo pve and WvW. Not sure why I'm still logging in, but I think it might be because it's so mindlessly easy and beautiful at the same time (especially on a beast rig). Also, there hasn't been a new MMO out for...

Just curious, is not having nameplates that game breaking? Never got around to playing this so I honestly don't know. Also, if they did put them in, wouldn't that alienate the legions of fans from the single player game? Iirc, they were pretty upset about lack of viable first person before it...

Draegan's ok, better than most at running this site. And he seems to be pretty laid back about the whole thing which is a plus. Don't mind him trying to make a buck at it either, since it hasn't impacted me in any negative way. Don't see how it hurts anyone else either. As for his "failied"...

/shrug You're just following the herd. Everyone does it from time to time. The herd on this site early on decided that Wildstar was the holy grail and pumped it up incessantly, while bashing TES. Both games weren't what was promised but it is pretty clear that Wildstar was the bigger failure...

Damn, I wanted to be in that fight, even with the state of the engine as it is.

EQ1's early bosses were basically loot pinata's for end game guilds. Easy kills, if you took them out first. The fun was racing to them when they popped and taking out other guilds with trains etc.. Had quite a few run in's with GM's before they changed the rules and ruined the fun. Scouting...

Threw some of my pizza money at this.. hope I get the pepperoni that I ordered.

It might not be revolutionary but for someone who hates quests (always have, even in EQ) it's a god send. To be clear, what I hate about quests is the time involved in finding and talking to the quest giver, the time running to find the mobs to kill (if I don't have to spend time to google it...

This.. Monk EQ1 Which means a game that has a properFeign Deathtype pulling tactic. One of the best accidental mechanics EVER FUCKING DONE, and no mmo devs since have had the balls to do it again. I quit EQ2 within hours of playing it for the first time, once I realized that FD (and my...

This. I like the fact that they are focused on getting the mechanics and netcode tight first. Worry about the graphics later. Graphics are supremely important in the end and definitely help sell boxes. But if a game's mechanics suck then good graphics can't keep the players interested.

Well, I hope that in spite of all the drama and incompetence, Brad somehow manages to make this game and gets it released. I love the underdog stories.

Heh, I bought another account when they had the 9.99 sale for a couple days, thought it would be cheaper than buying extra char slots. Started a Ranger (Legolas9999999 huh huh) and got her up to 35 before I realized I would have to buy the expansion twice.. doh.

The lottery has better odds.

Not even sure if this story is true, but years ago I recall reading about somebody in Mexico incessantly harassing another player in EQ (that also lived in Mexico). Somehow the player being harassed let her boyfriend know and he found out where the troll lived. He went over and broke the troll's...

Crowfall does have some new things proposed that are interesting to discuss and I am looking forward to playing it. The game is so far from even a alpha state though that it is impossible to tie down how it will actually play. It's all conjecture at this point. It will be interesting to see how...

To be fair. 99.9999 percent of all the games that come out are just recycled rule sets from previous games with new graphics. DAoC's version of gaming was never really replicated though, so I'm more than happy to see a reboot.

LOL, for whatever reason (serendipity I suppose), this statement has legs for me. Don't really even know what Crowfall is about, probably because whenever I read the name I see CrowFAIL. Unfortunate. But EQ and EQN finally passed my patience and personal expiration date for fanboism. It's...

The imbalances between the classes would be a much bigger issue if it wasn't so easy to level an alt to 80. Started playing again a couple months ago, not a ton but consistently. Only had 1 lvl 80, now I have 4. Instant level and xp items drop like candy now, so the last 10 levels on 2 of my...

Yep. If you want to make WoW type money then competing with them directly with a standard quest / hub mmo is almost a certain failure. Can still make a ton of money though, GW2, FFIV prove that, just not WoW personal atm bucks. It is no coincidence that all of these are quality games. LoL...

They are making bank. Got me to buy some gold because I was tired of farming it for even simple things like exotics for my alts. It's not hard to rationalize either, especially if you make a decent living in the "real world" (also, GW2 doesn't charge a sub). Haven't spent as much as the guy you...

I like GW2 and your comment doesn't offend me. Lots of room for variety in the marketplace. Pretty tired of the trinity to be honest, but afaik nobody has come up with a better solution. GW2's version of gameplay works but I wouldn't say it is better.

This.. so this. So tired of every race looking the same because mmo devs have to use the same set of bones and are too LAZY to do anything else. Plopping a lion's head onto a human body is so f'ing cheesy. GW2's charr race is cool. One of the very few non humanoid body types around.

I was talking about maintaining an IP's value and the need to keep it in the public's eye. What you read into my statement is purely your issue.

They have been putzing around way too long. The world has moved on. The kids don't know or care what EQ was and the die hards will be in retirement homes by the time they release it. There is something to be said for rushing to market. It keeps your brand in the public's eye, even if the...

1256 pages, lost interest a few hundred pages back.. so when is the game coming out?

Agree about GW1 being built for PvP but in the end most of their players were PvE types. I tried many times over the years to get the dedicated PvE players in the various guilds I was in to try PvP, but it was for naught. Most PvE players just refuse to even try PvP, that's true in other mmo's...

Most Guild Wars (1 and 2) players prefer PvE and avoid PvP like the plague, PvE is where the money is for them. That sucks for us who like PvP but it is the truth of things. GW2 has PvP because it adds additional value to the game and the owners like it. Besides the game's name requires it. But...

Any significance to him fighting "ARerolledSkeleton" in the later pics? https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/...46619270_o.jpg

Hear, hear. I would love a game that had the original EQ run from Qeynos to Freeport experience and all the other stuff that EQ had that mmo's don't have anymore. At level 15 as a SK that was a lot of fun. Did it with a friend and we had a scary, hand wringing, blast. But it worked because EQ...

SWTOR was a failure in almost everyone's eyes, especially the investors. STWOR was regularly touted as the real WoW killer, and if anyone had a chance to do that it was SWTOR. The fact that they failed, especially with the Star Wars IP behind them, is why nobody talks about WoW killers anymore...

Flames and Rants boards in early EQ were half of the reasons to play that game. DRAMA BABY!... it rules all.

Yep, And the people who move to the new servers will be pissed off and lonely next month. It's the same story for every new mmo.

Well, as I said, as long as it's not overdone. I loved the epic quests, they needed crafting help, but it wasn't too outrageous in the crafting portion. And it was minor in the overall arc of the quest. On the dark side of that type of quest was the standard rotation that every expansion went...

Regular crafted aye. But the gear that required rare drops off of mobs and a decent crafter to finish were cool. As long as it wasn't overdone. My favorite quests are still the original epics in EQ. I generally don't care for questing, but those were a lot of fun. And when you finally finished...

Heheh, been thinking about giving WoW another go (new models coming, etc). But this game is similar in style, so thought I might try it instead. The early posts in this thread were so upbeat. Guess that boat has sailed.
