Stick to whatever will be the most social console for the kids. PS4 is the way to go if two in the house keeps them playing together. If they are going to ultimately go back to the 360 to play with their other friends I would suggest the XB1.

With Rise of the Tomb Raider scheduled to release Fall of 2015, a deal to get exclusive rights through Christmas sounds expensive. Perhaps they only paid for this baby through Thanksgiving.

I agree, I played it heavily on the PC with friends on the PS3. It was fun and it connected a lot of players due to being cross-platform.

Pretty sure its MS wanting FFXIV to be on their servers, not shared ones. I think it was a symptom of them not having the XB1 released yet and them somehow thinking gamers around the world would hold hands through Kinect and MS DVRs. They bet wrong and as a result not even the 360 can play...

I've read rumors about SE trying to get MS to allow cross-platform play on FFXIV which I think would help XB1 sales. FFXIV is a year old and with no mention at this years gamescon I'm not sure MS will get on board; perhaps they still think TESO will be good.

This is why I bought the XB1 as the only console friends I have are on the 360 and because of their large friends list I don't see them switching to the PS4. The same thing happened to me on the PS3, I took the path less traveled and ended up playing alone.

XB1 here as well, there's a few of us lurking about. I'll be playing this a bunch, new kid on the way right around release. I'll be chained to the couch for awhile.

The 2nd player can join during character creation and get to create one of the two main characters in the game. The person hosting the game controls who controls which characters and followers. You can actually let the 2nd player control all characters and followers while you afk if needed...

I hope VR decides to save on development costs and copy-cut-paste Vanguard classes. It doesn't get any better than those, and if they do find a way to improve/innovate I'll be shocked.

FFXIV telegraphs as well, I don't feel like a kiddie because they use that mechanic. What's interesting is they slowly remove the telegraphs as the encounters get harder. The kiddies go splat while more seasoned players casually sidestep.
