That's with a Noctua NH-D15, which is massive overkill for my use case. I play in a fairly small room that doesn't have great ventilation, so I've always paid attention to my power draw/use - so I've situated pretty happily in at 3.75 Ghz/1.15v, which only gets to 50C running Prime95. I just...

I feel like there's such a disconnect between all the talk about Ryzen and the reality of quality of life with a given piece of hardware. There's this assumption that all that matters, at the end of the day, is the raw FPS number on screen, and that FPS number (on a few existing titles) divided...

RIP Jerry Doyle aka Michael Garibaldi of Babylon 5

My process is always to start on season 2, episode 1, and then loop back to season 1 afterwards. With the exception of going out of order to watch a couple episodes right before they become important, like the tie-in for War Without End. Nobody should ever start on season 1.

Agree. Most raiders are just logging on during set raid times, doing their clears, logging out. That will be unaffected, Quarm will just be what the really dedicated do the rest of the time.

There is a 40% bonus weekend running on Quarm that specifically calls out July 4th weekend. It's pretty likely they will add that to the live servers on Friday.

GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 announced available May 27th

Free games are how they avoid price drops on hardware at the end of its life cycle. If you think you're being a smart consumer by trying to get software with your cards, boy, you're naive.

As I've said repeatedly, the majority of this guild - including myself - has no relationship to any previous guilds he's led, and OGC has quite literally done nothing shady whatsoever against your guild or the server. Which can't be said in the reverse. Being pissy about previous servers is just...

Just balancing out the asshats who flame blindly because they're butthurt over shit that happened 10 years ago. We're not trying to harm AoS, yet you guys are actively trying to maim OGC constantly. I fail to see how 'live and let live' as a philosophy makes me a forum warrior.

Hourlong kite fights on AoW are a pain in the ass, sure, but because we're focused on doing instances with minimal crews instead of worrying about open world - we've done straightforward AoW with as few at 50 people, but when you're splitting it in two raids doing it with 35-40 (including...

Yeah, I was really surprised how big my MSI 1070 Armor's were compared to my old 970. But I think most of it is the fans/heat sink. Those things just run COLD. Like, in the 60s unless they're stressed at 100% for a long period of time.

I almost feel like I should sell one of these 1070s - it feels almost like too much... I got the MSI Armor 8G OC x2 (SLI), and holy bajeezus. I was averaging 120 fps at 4k on the benchmark run on GTAV, with only a couple performance settings turned down (like AA) that don't really impact...

Bit the bullet and bought 2x non-reference 1070s. Probably going to regret it, but I want to get 4k locked at 60 fps, damnit!

Durability is the hp line. The proc line is not until PoP, as I recall. For most classes, their essentials should be viable by 50 AA.

Mitigation in Luclin was 3 lines (Stability, Agility, and Durability) that appear to all be 2/4/6 today... So 36 AA for max mitigation. It looks like they've all been moved from Archetype to General, so there's no pre-requisites, either. So add in, I think, 5 for AE taunt... and I'm done with...

Man, for all your talk about me drinking the OGC koolaid, we can see Grizvok's knuckles through your eye sockets and his forearm up your anus from here. Damage control harder. The entire server knows how scummy AoS is now, and it's not going away.

    Everquest - Phinigel server

Evidently rooted MotM mobs only summon/Call of Zero if you're in line of sight, and they don't attack pets - they only go after the pet owner. So an epic mage pet can generate all the agro in the world, sit out of LoS, and the mob won't attack or AE the raid. Pretty cheesy exploit.

    Everquest - Phinigel server

Wow, you guys really stepped up your game on how much you hate Dima - you just fucked the entire server solely to try to false-flag smear OGC? Hint: killing the warders with a bunch of AoS, and making sure the server goes to 'Satoshibot', guildleader of 'Original Gangster Clubs' (an AoS alt)...

    Quarm Server

We're getting a little off topic since this isn't the Phinigel thread, but I think 24 weeks of PoP will kill more guilds than GoD by itself would, at this stage in the game. And I remember my guild being killed by GoD (but also WoW - you can't put all the blame on GoD).

    Quarm Server

GoD was massively improved. I'm still not a huge fan, but it wasn't the hard dicking it was originally. That said, I would be actually OK with GoD being bunched into the PoP era - maybe delay it by 9 weeks or something, but GoD was a very natural progression from PoP, gearing wise, where...

Yeah, I've been unenthused with it every time I did, so maybe I'll come down on that. I was really unimpressed with the benchmark they showed, too - that was just fucking weird. Show some relevant side by side comparisons to current hardware - showing crossfired 480s having a higher fps with...

That's the funny thing. It really shouldn't have all this drama, and that's why I'm playing on this server, and never in a thousand years would play on Lockjaw or Ragefire. I just don't have the energy for that at this stage in my life. This whole thing is meant to be an amicable stroll down...

AMD is announcing the 480X tonight at Computex - if the rumors are correct (~980 performance, <150W TDP, $199 MSRP), this could be a huge win for AMD in the mainstream market. I would even rethink getting a 1070 and consider crossfire 480X...

Maybe you're right, the phrasing was contradictory. I'll rephrase: nobody is impressed by your accomplishments, other than yourself. I'm impressed with a lot of what OGC has done, as well as many other guilds on this server, but if you can't do it with dignity, nobody will respect you. And I...

I have no idea the history between AoS and OGC and TL and Citizen or Modest Man or whatever. I'm in OGC and am playing with them here because Dima is a friend of mine from back in the days when this content was new, from being highly involved with the Warrior serverwide community. What I do...

I don't think they're going to drop the retail prices on 980Ti because supplies were already running low. The cheap Maxwells will be on eBay from people upgrading to Pascal, so probably won't start appearing in large quantities until June.

For gaming, Intel CPUs from 5 generations ago are just now becoming obsolete. It's crazy how little of a bottleneck they are in the modern era. A 4670k should be perfectly adequate for probably 5 more years, honestly. The difference between that and the i5 6700k is trivial.

I have a feeling we're going to see a similar situation that we did when Maxwell released - IE, the retail channels were FLOODED with purchases - the instant 970s went on sale, 5 minutes later, they sold out. There was actually a website dedicated to capturing whenever a retailer put new 970s on...

If you're running on hardware that's 8 years old, I can't imagine that the next few weeks are worth $100 in depreciation/missed opportunity. Also, 750 Ti is/was mainly neat because it can be set up without additional connnectors for the power supply, so it's a good way to semi-modernize an...

That would be a kick in the face. 980 was almost imperceptibly better than 970. If they can't jump further apart than that on a 40% die shrink and new architecture, then they might as well just give up - AMD will almost certainly eat their lunch if they can't do better than that. I would...

I'd be willing to bet that if nVidia keeps its historical pricing structures in place for Pascal, you could probably pick up a 970 for less than $150 - $200, or a 980 for under $250. If not retail, certainly on eBay. Depends on the performance gains on Pascal - we'll know more after Friday...

970 was by far the sweet spot of the current generation, and I don't see it not being able to handle 1080p/60 fps on most everything for years to come. But for 1440/4k gaming, the current generation just isn't up to snuff.

There is zero reason at the moment to spend the extra $100 for hyperthreading for an i7 for gaming - DirectX 12 may change that, but it's been a year now and we've yet to see any appreciable DX12 launches with big gains in that area. Would be a much better idea to get an i5 and a better graphics...

More often than not, the incremental gains at a given price point are about 50-60%, not 20-30%... obviously there's some exceptions, but it when making such a dramatic die shrink (28 nm -> 16 nm), it's more likely on the higher side than the lower. Particularly since Maxwell was so much more...

The Tesla P100 has absolutely nothing to do with any gaming parts. Anything said about Tesla has no relevance WHATSOEVER to the GeForce line. nVidia usually 'announces' their consumer chips about 5 minutes before they go on sale. That's a meaningless statement. It's already known that...

Assuming they maintain their strategy from the last go around, 1070 will probably be the sweet spot of price, performance, and efficiency. Polaris 10 looks like it may go into 480X parts, which may also lay claim to that. Nobody will know until reviews, benchmarks, and release pricing is announced.
