I bet the reason for not just doing square/triangle/etc sockets is that they have an unused idea for some weird league mechanic stashed away which might dabble in socket shape, and that is cockblocking the entire colorblind audience.

They are basically saying you will only be able to receive that bonus once after the update, regardless of whether you used it before the update or not. Otherwise some people might think their unused opportunity from pre-2.1 plus the reset means they could then receive it twice.

I've actually never played mines. The whole idea of another button to trigger my "trap" or the more recent chain explosion mechanics always put me off.

Ice trap sab was no more or less clunky than before 3.15, it's just that traps are always a bit clunky due to throwing/arming time. So if you are fine with that it would be an option.

Keeping content in the game with a long term plan to give players decisions and options shouldn't come at a performance cost. Whatever leagues you spawn into your map should be measured and paced appropriately - but with player input so you have more influence on which content you engage with...
