I think this is a bug related to jewelry and charms. Because they only drop as magical items they are not getting filtered in the same way as armor. I'll look into this.
Check the leaderboards in the tavern by class. You get a pretty clear picture of what's more popular thus far. Cleric, Enchanter, and Templar might be the least popular at this point. Though Templar was recently buffed quite a bit.
So if you guys dig NGO and would like to see other adventurers online then I'd appreciate if you'd spread it throughout the EverQuest gamer-sphere. Kotaku and friends certainly will not. Chris Neal at MassivelyOP already "cancelled" its coverage of Nevergrind Online because I have unpopular...
Yeah, some day. I'm trying to figure out if I should do a micro for that or just use gold. I thought about allowing characters to expand their bags with gold, too.
Every skill that does damage at intervals like that probably shares that bug. I'll have to ensure they stop when combat ends.
Class balance is going to be a continual slog. I don't really intend for them to be perfectly balanced, but they should all be fun to play. If nobody is playing a class...
They summon meteors! There are no pet classes. I made that decision early on. Didn't quite fit with the assets and tools that I had. Plus it'd probably look insane in combat with my format.
Mobs have their own threat tables, but they cannot change a player's target. You must be hitting TAB or clicking them or something. I've never heard this before.
My bigger question mark is with the EQ sfx. I'm actually willing to pay for the sfx pack, but I don't think it's possible. I'm not concerned about a "YOU DIED" death screen. That's like saying you can copyright the concept of an RPG or an elf. How many copycats of match-three puzzle games are...
Sole developer, yes. EQ sfx I'm on the fence about. Long story. Dark souls victory screen isn't going anywhere. You can't copyright something like that. I thought it was a fun idea. Plus I might add a hardcore mode later.
Bro, you have no idea how much modern gaming chat interfaces piss me off. I pretty much made NGO just to show how incompetent modern chat UIs are. I haven't played New World. How bad is their chat? I have seen so many bad modern chat UIs that I figure it must be intentionally designed to limit...
It's a lot like old battle.net. Can just type /join bros for your own channel. Etc etc. When you go back to town it'll remember your custom channels, too. Or when you log in the next day. You can type /join town to go back to the default.
Chat is VERY working. It was one of the first things I finished. It supports guild chat, party chat, emotes, emojis, town chat, different chat channels, whispers, etc etc. Type /help in game.
Yeah that's definitely something I can work on. I can add more texture variety later. That's part of the whole kickstarter effort. I'd love to add background and hallway texture variety.
Yeah bro. You have no idea how long I've thought about the pros and cons of this. You have no idea how nostalgic certain EQ sfx are for me. I'm curious who would even try a C&D. Who owns them? Nobody knows. I don't think Daybreak or whoever owns them. Brad McQuaid personally told me that they...
I can adjust its volume. I dunno. I thought the volume was fine lol... tbh I will probably change a lot of sound effects before the game launches. Lots are EQ sound effects and I have no idea who owns them. I don't think anyone knows.
The name colors indicate general difficulty by level relative to your level. Similar to the EverQuest consider system. Same with the quest names at the mission counter.
I'll look into Shiloh. I know he's one of the first shadow knight NPCs you face, so you have to eat at least one harm touch from him. If your blood resist is terrible you might have a bad time. Aside from that he shouldn't be too bad. Definitely bring a few health potions...
