    Shaving

Did you try feather as well? Ive read good reviews on Feather and Astra, but I ordered feather and was less than impressed. I mean they are better than Derby's, but I must have some thick ass hairs or something. Another problem is probably that I only shave every 4-5 days, but I wont be...

I think they were probably holding out for some form of reimbursement or just planning to throttle the shit out of it. The problem with caches is it really doesnt change anything for the end user, and changes little for the provider (especially a large one like Verizon). They will save a...

But you still torrent movies/HBO/Other primo shows right? What about music? I dont think many torrent music anymore, but that was the driving force of all the "crackdowns on torrenting". Those were 4-12Mb files.

    Routers & Other Networking Stuff

Unless you are running VOIP or gotta have those low ping times for gaming, your usage is probably less than your available connection and everything is fine. Or if you do lots of in network transfers, then that might help.

I believe so, probably with a nicer interface. No personal experience with it though: ASUS router quick how-to: optimize network traffic with QoS - YouTube Looks like you can configure limits per client IP and have real time and historical graphing. Probably enough for what you want to...

You are probably going to want to run something with DD-WRT. Mikrotik is probably beyond what you want to learn, but you definitely need something that is not an OEM firmware. Then you can set daily limits, speeds per time slots, etc

Comcast Agrees to Buy Time Warner Cable

I would say a little of both, but the biggest factor is scale. The ease of access for technologically impaired to consume huge amounts of data via streaming devices is the reason. Pretty much anyone who knew how to torrent in 2000 still torrents or uses Usenet today. Grandma with a new smart...

Already covered in detail. Cost is insane, usage has crippled profit margins.
  27. R

Existing infrastructure. See other costs if infrastructure is already paid for. Get all your neighbors to pay $200/month + $5000 install charge and you will have fiber by the end of the month

And this really will be my final post, I swear. For every successful municipal internet service venture, I would wager 10 fail within 3-5 years. However, this is 2nd hand knowledge, and not my area of infinite wisdom The biggest factor with streaming is that the bit-rates are scale-able...

What? I guess you don't understand rolling brownouts. And power companies like Avista send you free energy efficient bulbs. And give you rebates for energy efficiency. And charge you more the more you use. And pay you for backfeed. And make you pay cost for new buildouts. And this is a...

Comcast Agrees to Buy Time Warner Cable

Yeah I test it all the time, and hundreds of customers confirm. Hulu ads wont, because often their ad servers suck and aren't available in that low of quality, but that is all. What is more likely is that you are not getting consistent 1 or 3Mbps, or possibly busting is causing you to jump up...

  39. R

Comcast Agrees to Buy Time Warner Cable

Yes fiber is the next tier. Maybe not FTTH, but 95% of the way there. Those costs are rolled in. They reduce the profit margin to lower than most think when usage spikes.

Comcast Agrees to Buy Time Warner Cable

I think the rule of thumb (more numbers out of a hat) for fiber is about $27/foot, although it has been a couple years since I priced it. Obviously larger corps can do it for less, but this does nothing for competition barrier to entry. ISPs look great on paper because you look at how much you...
