Sadly, you are correct. It could happen. It should happen, but it won't. Even some of the greatest directors of all time (Spielberg, Lucas, Jackson, etc.) have been corrupted by special effects; especially CGI. I doubt the script for this latest Mad Max film is much more than a storyboard.
