There's always a trail, if you go off the beaten path it punts you out. Sometimes the trail is just off screen and/or really hard to see, especially if it's the blue wisps cause they kinda blend in to the environment.

Played LA Deadeye last league. works great for mapping, great coverage for legions, great for heist too. easily transitionable to tornado shot if you want to take it to the next level. Struggles a bit with bosses, but if you're having trouble with one you can ask in guild.
