If you make an errand for a specific item then it seems it's a guaranteed drop. I've yet to not get the item I was questing on my first kill.

Kill every animal you come across and hold on to skins and bones. You'll need them for upgrades and getting stocked early makes for easier going. It's nice not to have to worry about it later. I had all my upgrade stuff before I even started the main quest.

Boost mode is pretty cool. It makes games like AC: Unity and Just Cause 3 actually playable and keeps other games at a more stable fps.
