You've also played the game a lot and know what works/doesn't. Having gems available from level 1 and some socketed gear to have skills link makes a world of difference.

Last night I got some pretty good drop luck and managed to get a 5L chest. Krassus hooked me up with a few gems and got my res up and on to Act3 Merciless. I'm actually able to gain levels instead of getting my ass handed to me...still need to get my chaos resist up, and a Multistrike gem!

I've got 5 Chaos and 1 Exalted, I just don't know enough yet and don't want to waste them haha.
