Casual play is deck based matchmaking. If you want to play junkers then build decks with no rares/mythics.

If you want to build a competitive deck then popping packs is best. If you dont care about constructed and like limited format then go for it, but it's not worth if it you are getting less than 2 wins in my opinion.

Both. Until you are geared to take a hit, don't take hits. Once you are over geared or have methods to deal with hits (ex: rocksteady mantle) you can be a little bit more of a slacker.
