The Final Fantasy Mega Thread - Now playing FFXV

For me the good vastly outweighed the bad for IV through XII --even VIII. They all, a the very least, make my top 30, and the best - VI (and Tactics) - are top 5. I reserve my ire for XIII, XIII-2 and especially XV.

Really enjoying this as well, but it's the firstgood FF I've played blind in like 15 years. I don't wanna know how much I'm missing :(

Yeah i totally get that - emulation is somehow less satisfying for me as well. All the same, I really would consider the 10 remaster as it's just a more pleasant experience. Can get it on Steam for like 10 bucks when it's on sale, or just see if you can borrow that ps4 a bit earlier. Also comes...

The Final Fantasy Mega Thread - Now playing FFXV

I'd strongly advise for the older games playing versions that have a fast-forward option, which to my knowledge means PC for 1-6, PC or PS4 for 7, and PC for 8 and 9. 10 I'd play on PS3, PS4, PS Vita or PC because the remaster is great.

15 is the worst FF I've ever played, and I've played all of 'em since IV.

Went with pairings pretty similar to your (with Archer), but I went Wht/Time and Uhlan/Machine. I assigned them to characters along story lines, which I think is fine overall but I hear Fran and Balthier make bad Archers and Machinists, respectively. Whatever, though.

The Zodiac Spear remains in the game, but it's not acquired the same way. I've heard it's a hunt reward, so no more avoiding random chests. Never had to deal with it in ffxii's original iteration because I didn't make it far, but that sounds like it was annoying as fuck

Game seems pretty cool so far. Didn't play much of the original for the same reason I didn't really play any generation 6 games - EQ and WoW.

3's at the bottom for me. Short, little build variety (at launch, anyway), easy bosses, annoying covenants, bad ng+. Still loved it, though.

We can probably assume that the machine that'll be named the PS5 will be the first since the PS4 that'll have software that cannot be played on prior models. If we can also assume that we'll be getting new hardware every 3 years, I hope there's not another Pro. Last thing we need is another...

    E3 2017

A far as the statements I've seen go, it really depends on how you wanna parse them. Bloodborne technically isn't Souls, so it's technically permissible. A DeS remaster would technically constitute a rerelease of old content, not a new game, thus also falling within the bounds permited by the...

It's a matter of what you're interested in, of course, but unless you're an unrepentant PC elitist there should be SOMETHING they have as far as exclusives that iterests you. It's a pretty common contention that Bloodborne is game-of-the-decade/GOAT level, and Persona 5 and HZD will doubtless...

Kotaku Apologist Brigade deployed. I'll read the article when I get home, but my gut reaction is that shoddy leadership can mar code, ruin deadlines and confuse logistics, but it's basically assured that the talent in play is utterly dismal when a game has writing as bad as MEA had.

The Big Bad Console Thread - Sway your Station with an Xboner !

Nioh was more playable on vanilla than 99% of games on the platform. I took 720 (or whatever it was) 60 and never looked back. Sure, 1080 60 on the Pro is ideal, but I'll take 720 60 in a second over the 1080 30 that most PS4 games force on me.

Where'd that statement come from? Not disputing it, but that's an embarassing statistic if true. My vanilla PS4 is good enough for me, but there's no way in hell I wouldn't buy the Pro if I wasn't already a PS4 owner. Edit: One in Five PS4s Sold Is a PS4 Pro; PS VR Sales Hit One Million: Sony

Greatsword I never tried...that's the one that weights a fuckton, right? The Large and Giant club I always found too large and giant. I'm partial to the Mastodon Greatsword, Mirrah Greatsword or Defender Greatsword when doing a Big Fucking Weapon playthrough. And Hatorade, you in particular...

    Nioh (Team Ninja)

I'm gonna wait til the other two DLC's (there're three projected, right?) come out before diving back in. As regards the level layout, I pretty much agree, but I liked how well it worked for side-missions. There were a good half-dozen optional missions that fell under the "fuck this, I'll come...

    Dark Souls 2

Never been a two-handed fatty kinda guy. My first run (no Scholar) stumbled into the Mastodon Greatsword and thence evolved into a str build. I DEFINITELY recommend that weapon - and it does have a thrust. I really don't know anything about stat allocation for fatties though, as I always err on...

    Dark Souls 2

I'm not one of the guys who claims this game is better than Souls 1, but I DO claim steadfastly that Souls 2 - and especially its Scholar variant - is better than Souls 3, and Souls 3 was still goty for me. 2 had the best build variety, the (perhaps consequently) best pvp, the best DLC, and is...

    Persona 5

Leveling via fusion, note the stats highlighted in gold before confirming. If they're not what you want, back out and select fuse again for a different set of stats. You get three stats per level, so if just on stat is highlighted, it gets +3; if two, one gets +2 and one gets +1 (can't tell...

Just got to 5th dungeon and... this so effortlessly catapulted itself into game-of-all-time territory it's not even funny. The jrpg remains my favorite genre, but I don't think anybody can (could?) make an argument asserting that the genre is (was?) anything other than moribund. I've been...
