Yeah being semi forced into groups due to the xp bonuses feels a bit like being forced to play with your retarded younger cousin when you were a kid.

I think they are having to play a juggling game between having queues or having so many people online at once that it lags for everyone. Short queue during prime time seems to be the acceptable compromise.

Mayong was alright for a while before it fizzled out, Miragul was a flop from the start, Vaniki is still going, just very seasonal, aka the month or 2 before a new TLP launches lol. Discord and Quarm were event servers not intended to last.
