I had similar results. After 5 failed golden axes, I made a copper - turned out to be a swift variant, 110 speed. It's only 60 damage base, but with brute rings it gets the job done. I average 300 burled wood every 5 minutes (tested over 2 hours of logging).

I've not gotten a single template to work. Everything I try to save returns various errors. I haven't really looked into it much on the forums, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

Deleting your claim seems so always give you your lost objects back. I've had to do this a couple times. Anyone get templates working? I can't make any templates of anything.
