While I'm happy to hear someone else enjoys Star vs. The forces of Evil, I think it's unfair to compare watching that cartoon as an adult and watching the original TMNT cartoon. TMNT didn't offer anything to an adult audience.
I'm not sure, it's largely dependant on how prepared you are and you'll be starting pretty far behind. Some fights are fairly tactical, some are very straightforward and there are a couple of cheese tactics that you may or may not decide to make use of.
