For those who haven't played in a long time, game is worth checking out. I originally tried it in 2012 and sometime in 2014, but gfx were poor, gameplay was clunky, I didn't enjoy it. The current version seems to be excellent.

Archers are good if you can crush your opponent with them, or your melee / cavalry artillery can. In challenging fights where the enemy brings a large number of superior melee forces, they aren't very good.
