    The NSA watches you poop.

Clinton(f) is probably a lock anyhow. She's timed it well and distanced herself from the current administration and frankly, who the fuck are the Republicans going to run against her? Odds against anyone soft on terrorists (slash pro privacy) or sane regarding patent laws or IP law in general...

    Car rental in US

Many (most?) CCs will cover your insurance needs. Hey, get more if you like but in most instances you are just throwing money away for fun. I get having extra insurance when traveling in south america or africa or whatever but in NA you are pretty much good to go with your CC's coverage. At...

The End of OPEC? Massive Oil Find in Australia.

Well, there are lots of people out there who will take your bet. The players up here see a price of $75 (or lower) as more than two standard deviations out of model at any point in the next five years. Now, they have been wrong before and we've also seen prices well below that in the last...

    Dust: An Elysian Tail

I was definitely a fan at this price point at least. Good fun, clean controls (not perfect but quite good) and appropriate art and music. Yeah the furry anime vibe won't be for everyone but I thought it fit well.

The End of OPEC? Massive Oil Find in Australia.

Yes it does. Well, at least the sort of bitumen production we do here in Alberta uses a tremendous amount of fresh water and that's even with a lot of pressures to use less. 158 million cubic meters in 2011 for example or 41.74 million gallons if you prefer. There just no economically...

The End of OPEC? Massive Oil Find in Australia.

The lack of water is a very serious concern for any bitumen/shale production. I mean, if there's stuff there then eventually people will figure out ways to exploit it at a given price but while $20T worth of oil sounds nice, it doesn't mean shit if it would cost $22T to bring it to market.

    The proliferation of stupidity

I'm 43, earning just fine and you kids are fucking idiots. Do people my age and older see things differently? Yes. That and we are right. Get the fuck over it or figure shit out for yourselves. Too many 20-somethings *think* they know shit but can't actually do a damned thing. Too many...

Mine appeared today as well. Will see how it looks. EDIT: So far so good. Seems reasonably deep while remaining approachable for certain. A little concerned about the microtrans stuff but will see how I can do without plowing any cash into it. Were it closer to $5 a month for all 'standard'...

In an open market this would eventually happen. This particular market is absolutely not even close to being open though and it really does suck. There's only so much you can do when access is dictated by a damned cable box.

Beyond even King's worst I'd say. I actually decently enjoyed the book back when (airplane fodder) but the second half and especially the ending just made me sour.

    StarCraft 2

Well, although I prefer professionalism myself, I'm not sure it is needed exactly. We've seen **many** other sports that are hugely successful but the talent still act like idiots regularly. Hell, it might even be helpful to building an interest.

What's the story behind your Rerolled name?

Most people live to the south of me. I've been using it since long before noows on other boards/IRC and it or variants are just my default. Probably started around the Dallas IRC era when I was dealing with a lot of southerners... who then thought I was a yankee most likely. This amused me.

Entirely plausible. Of course, there are other equally depressing possibilities regarding the longevity of intelligent species and so on but hey, at present we *still* have no math that makes the energy and time requirements of interstellar travel seem like something we are ever actually...

    Magic DOTP 2014

Hehe, apparently not so much. Gogo power of the cloud!~ Will experiment perhaps later but they really appear to have screwed this up from a player perspective. Multiplayer Sealed should be just like normal... draft and build then play. Instead they have everyone using their preconstructed...

    Magic DOTP 2014

Hah! So, I bought the new version figuring what the hell, I put in a lot of hours on the other ones for some reason and at $10 I save money just thinking about it. The new 'sealed' version is fun! It should be the default! ... Then I figured out that they want me to **BUY** new 'slots' to...

Same boat here. Now, I don't know if I'll even get a PS4 but I'll probably do what I've done for the other generations and buy one once there is a title I really want to play. For the entire lifecycle of the PS3 I've only bought maybe a dozen or so games and probably got more value out of it...

    Borderlands 2

Well, wasn't close to 20 hours for me and I would guess closer to 6-8? My main character is pretty much loaded for bear though (61 'zerker, the usual DPH + slag rubi etc) and tended to rip through everything. Not complaining at all, it was fun!

    Borderlands 2

One-time use but you can use it on any character. New DLC is funny as hell! Pretty short and all but goofy and amusing. I'm still not crazy about UVHM but hey, can always screw around with level 50s I suppose. Actually hope they move on to BL3 soon though, not sure the combat system can...

The Authoritative Final Fantasy & Bravely Default thread

I don't know if the picture or the names irritate me more. I mean fuck, I thought Blizzard was bad for semi-latin bullshit names but this would be shameful from a ten year-old DM. Then I look at the picture again and sigh.

Yeah, they tried to evacuate most of DT Calgary last night but I'm not sure how many people actually left. Had cops and military doing the door-to-door thing. I live in Beltline/Lower Mount Royal and while all is dry-ish here for now, internet is out (gogo tethering!) and pretty much...

    Scrolls

Again though, Scrolls==potential but I'm stymied as to why they are just fucking around. There just *must* be IP issues as to why they can't essentially port over the WotC system but no man alive can pretend what they have right now is even close. Fuck, it isn't even close to the MtGO...

I'd have to say straight up "no" at this point. We don't *need* rebounds, flash, counters and miracles and so on yet but we sure as hell need at least sorc v instant v interrupts and similar. It is very, very basic at this point. I'm still interested though in the concept and hey, with...

The Big Bad Console Thread - Sway your Station with an Xboner !

Well, I was pretty damned amused by the whole ride. I'm still hoping XBone tanks horribly but I'm sad that if it does now they'll blame it on caving in to the 'vocal minority'. Someone might have learned a lesson from this but sadly, I think no longer. Hmm, MS kinda reminds me of the GOP at...

    Scrolls

Well, first impressions are just that I guess. For a $21 beta I won't complain but there's still quite a lot that needs work here. The framework is decent and fun but the cards and turn system itself certainly could be improved. I'm not expecting MtG levels of complexity out of the gate but...

Microsoft are the pioneers and biggest proponents of market segmentation! They'll charge you exactly what (they think) maximizes their profits and it sure as hell isn't less than right now. After all, if you are getting hundreds of hours of entertainment for only $80 then *they* are getting...

Well, *that* is far more feasible. They'd likely take thousands of years to get wherever they were going but this...

Well said Torrid. I think one of the biggest failing we have is our inability to appreciate time, scale and energy costs. They are massive issues when we talk about extra-solar exploration and we are not anywhere close to addressing them really.

The Big Bad Console Thread - Sway your Station with an Xboner !

Well, that's as expected really. I mean, it would be nice if the next gen consoles were not region locked but we all knew they would be most likely. Market segmentation is too important now.
