    Age of Wonders 4

3 has some amazing mod development too. hopefully they are as open/easy to mod in 4, as the will is obviously there. Watched the char and world creation video for 4 - that's some serious customization - looks promising.

    The Mandalorian

It's actually kind of funny, one of the biggest combat problems of Distant Worlds 2 was that fighters didn't have hyperdrives and carrier operations became an absolute shitshow because of it. The logistics of carrier operations become a shitload weirder when the carrier is faster than the fighters.

    The Mandalorian

The episode was decent overall, but that was some top quality nostalgia powered space laser pew pew. The insane impracticality of Mando's ship still bugs me though - I'm assuming he just stops off on random asteroids to take a piss ? ;p

"Oh no, we have no power to engines, therefore we are at a dead stop and can't chase after that comet !" "We have human shit, and shit can be used as fertilizer, and fertilizer can be used to make bombs and bombs can be used to propel things, therefore we can fly our spaceship with shit...

    The Consultant

I thought this started really well, but floundered a bit in the second half. Still entertaining overall. Unsurprisingly Waltz carries the show even more than James Spader carries the Blacklist. He's creepy and menacing as hell, while still seeming completely reasonable, and really entertaining...

It was ADA, not DA - I thought that they might be younger, but some reason ADA seems to average much older than the actual DA. https://www.zippia.com/assistant-district-attorney-jobs/demographics/ I wonder what's up with that ?

It doesn't actually understand questions as such, so trying to modify it's behavior is very hit and miss. It's part of the reason it lies so much - telling it not to lie is a lot more complicated than you'd think because it doesn't understand the relationships between things, and truth is...

Yeah, Riftbreaker is good fun. I particularly like the weapon visuals; burninating the zerg hordes with the flamethrower feels very satisfying. Surprisingly high production values all around.

    What are you playing?

Element TD2 - another well-polished and expansive tower defense game. I did not like this one as much as previous ones, I am not sure why - it kind of felt more puzzley than others, like it was a matter of picking the 'right' towers out of the ones available, and which ones were the right ones...

    Star Trek: Picard

First ep wasn't bad, although I was a bit confused by Seven's thoughts there - she seems to be treating it like a job at an office instead of the military. Sure you can be sick of your CO's shit, but mutiny and stealing a warship should be the kind of thing that gets you prison time, not fired no ?

    True Detective

I had no idea that Tarantino had even watched it, and wouldn't care if I had. I still thought S2 was a crushing letdown, with ludicrous rambling dialogue that apparently no-one other than McConaughey could make sound profound rather than stupid. It's ok to like stuff that other people don't -...

    What are you playing?

That is EQ style, not WoW style. WoW style is that the instant an expansion drops everything before it becomes a pointless waste of time.

    Lockwood & Co.

Oh sure, 'adults are dumb and just don't understand' along with 'life is just so, like, unfair' are the staples of the YA genre, it's just this particular example impressed me with how ridiculously unrealistic it was.

    Web Serials

On a non-spoiler front, I was very happy with how that wrapped things up - well-written, memorable characters, a different take on things and best of all, a coherent story arc that leads into a satisfying ending.

You may be watching a YA show if : A teacher supervising a field exercise that he assigned, has 90% of his students die and then is found not liable *for any reason whatsoever*. If God himself came down from heaven and whacked the kids, that teacher is still getting crucified, probably...

The special was a bit of a mixed bag, but there were some genuinely funny moments, so I am happy overall. Bane continues to the best character on the show.

While I give credit to SyFy for actually making a sci-fi show, this was pretty dire. "This is not how physics work, this is not how space works, this is not how oxygen works, godammit, this is not how ANYTHING works" Nitpickers avoid if you have blood pressure problems. At least this crew...

    Superfuse (AARPG)

Not *quite* as bad as kickstarter, but early access is a crapshoot. I've had pretty good experiences lately though - Across the Obelisk, Dyson Sphere Program, Tower Tactics Liberation were all worth way more than the purchase price even in early access. Wartales wasn't bad too. This one I'd...

Nice - watching retromation's lets try of this was enough for me to wishlist it a while back. I liked the way the skills combined in nonsensical ways - nice change from the boring, safe, extra-balanced approach to this shit that's been peddled lately. Been on a tower defense kick recently - Tower Tactics Liberation - roguelike tower defense, unlockable decks, kinda futuristic space themed. Got a lot of mileage out of this one, good quick fun. No mazing for this one, just placement on pre-generated tower locations, although most maps have...

Yeah, with how many are about, it's easy to mistake something like the writing and characterization of DoF as being average for the genre, but there are literally hundreds of them that you have never heard, for very good reasons. IANAL, but I think you could make a reasonable argument that consistent deliberate modifications run into the material difference exception to first sale doctrine. Not that I think anyone would bother, unless they are feeling particularly spiteful and are unaware of the Streissand effect.

Presumably the hero summoning took some effort - you'd at least make sure you knew what unknown abilities did before going, "Here's $500, now fuck off" Of course the Isekai summoned hero genre has always had a bit of a suspension of disbelief required for the setup - can you imagine it in...

Campfire Cooking was kind of fun - dismissing interdimensional express delivery as a useless power is even more ridiculous than Shield Hero though ;p The king was a land whale, he would have trampled over the other heroes in his haste to get to him if he knew what the skill did, heh.

    1. Absolutely true, but this is probably because Vess has less personality than Alinity does. 2. Now that you mention it, this would be the most awesome possible way for this series to end. 3. The ones you did read are the most similar of all of them, so that probably did not help. Path and...
