    Stranger Things

Excitement level for live action of source material = 0. There's been, what, 8?, live action remakes and all of them have sucked. Excitement level given the people doing it = 4. Overall mildly pessimistic.

    The Boys

I give Prime credit for funding a lot of crazy shit that no-one looking for sensible returns would touch with a 10 foot pole. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but TV as a whole is better for it existing. It's kind of the role Netflix was filling before they ran out of money.

    Night Sky

Eh, it's not any more mystery box than, say, Stargate, but the end part and suggested direction for a s2 was more interesting than s1 was.

    The Time Traveler's Wife

It has a reasonable ending point for a series end, it doesn't leave any real cliffhangers.

    The Time Traveler's Wife

Going for more than one season was always kinda greedy, still a shame though.

    Westworld

Ep1 review: 3 snores out of 5. I don't care about any of these people. Also, I should probably have watched that recap video because their flashback clips in Ep1 just highlighted that I can't remember anything that happened in season 3. I don't even remember s3 being offensively bad or...

    General Gaming News and Discussion

It's actually really hard to detect processes faking mouse input, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of heuristics in anti-cheat designed to identify a real mouse from simulated mouse input. Using an actual mouse makes that completely impossible to detect.

    For All Mankind

If you are going to fly to mars, why not do it in a luxury hotel ? Haha.

    The Boys

Homelander isn't previously shown to be racist, he's exasperated more than anything at Stormfront's attempts along those lines - he just thinks that he is better than everyone else, which is honestly hard to argue with ;p
  10. V

    The Boys

I'd agree there - Homelander really should be shit at fighting someone of equal power - how could he have practiced ? Being invulnerable isn't much help at teaching you to deal with the pain and disorientation from being punched in the face.

    Blizzard dies and Bobby rides

They weren't being charged with sexual assault, they were being charged with running Blizzard like a frat house.

    The Boys

Wait, it wasn't ? But that heroic delivery guy got the box right there in perfect dramatic timing without even having an address to go on ? What else would it be about ?
  13. V

    The Old Man

That was a bit weird, but makes sense if he actually loves his dogs and doesn't want them to get shot. Also, with the running theme that's he is no longer as badass as he thinks he is.

    The Old Man

The fights are like Banshee in that they are ugly, bad for everyone involved, and have lasting consequences. There's no casual one punch knockouts and walking away off serious injuries. The non-fighting parts are, of course, nothing like Banshee.
  15. V

    The Old Man

Yeah, more Banshee than John Wick in the fight department. A bit slow, but I like it so far.

    Night Sky

    It does not.
  18. V

    The Essex Serpent

This was pretty meh. It's about the horrors of being a condescending rich widow that everyone is in love with.
  19. V

    For All Mankind

Now that is a good start to a season.

    Songs of Conquest

What do you find the difficulty like ? I half-watched some videos on this while working - even terrible gamers seemed to be completely ROFLstomping the AI.

    Songs of Conquest

Pixel art is the art style, which is intended to invoke nostalgia, not the underlying tech - they are more than free to use 2D sprites that are not pixel art. It's almost certainly more work to take artist drawings and then convert them to pixelated form than to just use higher res designs to...

    LitRPG

I am about 80% sure that the author got sick of that story arc and just went 'fuck it, let's wrap this up quick'. Probably for the best, for a storyline with so much potential it was disappointing and wasn't really going anywhere - grimdark emo was never the series' strength.

    The Time Traveler's Wife

This captures what I remember of the feel of the book really well, they don't shy away from how fucked up their relationship is at all. Good chemistry between the leads, good acting from the guy too on the different personalities as time goes by. I am entertained.
  24. V

    Night Sky

Having watched all of this, it's not bad. Similarities to Outer Range are more coincidental that anything else, it's a very different type of show. I give credit for the twist at the end actually resolving a number of outstanding plot holes. It's not Lost, but it's not Star Trek either, most...

    Shining Girls

I'm not sure where I thought this was going, but it certainly wasn't there. It does explain a lot, the guy is still a piece of shit, but I can see that situation being a pretty strong motivator for acting like a complete psycho. Overall pretty interesting.

    Love, Death & Robots

I didn't really like the siren one, the animation was great but it felt too much like someone trying to make a literal implementation of interpretive dance. The rest were all pretty good though, I think I liked Bad Travellings best, mostly for the story and the main voice actor.

    Across the Obelisk

Yikes, they nerfed self-burn mage like they were possessed by the ghost of Brad McQuaid. "What do you mean which card do you nerf ? Nerf ALL the cards in the deck, and the items too, and any cards that support it on different classes !" Inner fire and warpaint were probably too good ( is there...

    Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I thought this was fine, although all my sympathy was with the aliens ;p They were remarkably restrained for people finding shapeshifting aliens invading their most important military site, their response to 'Give peace a chance' was pretty reasonable when it was coming from people who knew...

    Moon Knight

This was ok overall, but I wish it had lived up to the quality of the first episode.
  31. V

    Outer Range

I was totally baited there. Great setup, then back to random irrational actions of people I don't care about for the entire rest of the season 8(.
  32. V

    Across the Obelisk

Yeah he's strong, but the as difficulty goes up you can take huge damage from having all the monsters go first ( they get faster and you get slower at higher difficulty ), and even on lower difficulties, dead monsters do no damage, so being able to kill them turn 1 before they attack is a way...

    Across the Obelisk

This is great fun, and has wasted a godawful amount of my free time already (74hrs so far heh). Thanks for an awesome recommendation. I've played Slay the Spire, Tainted Grail and Monster Train and enjoyed them, but I have found this one much more enjoyable than any of the others. Mostly for...

    Web Serials

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/52639/edge-cases I've quite enjoyed this one so far. Litrpg'ish with an adventuring party that is mostly made up of characters that would belong to the most obnoxious rules lawyers and vandals in a real tabletop RPG. You know the whole 'This rule is kind of...

Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)

This movie was completely fucking ridiculous. If they made a parody of it, you'd have a hard time telling which was which. Two thumbs up 8) Having fight scenes that are badass, complete nonsense and laugh out loud funny all at the *same time* ? Bravo.

    The Time Traveler's Wife

Assuming this was based on the Niffeneger book, it was a really good book, so it has a decent starting point. It was not what I was expecting from the title.

    LitRPG

I think Wandering Inn has the first few volumes as audio books ? I can't comment on the narrator quality, but the Wandering Inn is probably my favorite 'litrpg' storywise. It's also written by what is, I am pretty sure, the most prolific author ever to walk the earth*, so you aren't going to...
