They had regular updates for the first year and a half. Doing some of that mixed with group content and map completion/alts/pvp could keep people busy for a while.

The way you describe your experience in GW2 makes it sound like a tournament or soccer season. That's exactly what I dont like about modern MMO pvp, it's too "sportified". If I want a fair match in a controlled environment I load up LoL or SC2.

I wouldnt say bad idea quite yet, but imo there's a very real danger of campaigns turning out less like EVE/DaoC/Shadowbane and more a slightly longer GW2 match-up or a much longer Winterspring/Tol Barad.

*IF* SC actually puts more then a counterstrike map worth of people into direct contact with each other I might consider it an MMO (with heavy instancing - but that's standard these days). How many people will be able to interact with each other is not something they can prove this year though...
