Everquest Mangler Server - DOING IT ALL AGAIN, AGAIN!

I'm guilty of viewing EQ through rose-tinted spectacles but reading threads like this takes me slamming back to all the shittiness of server crashes, emergency fixes, dev forum silence, and fuxx0red spawn timers. And that's when they didn't have a skeleton crew.

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

Has there been any discussion as to when the second part is likely to release? Are we talking 6 months, a year, more?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Yeah, but how long would Darth Vader have taken to dispose of a non-force user waving around a light saber? Finn actually held his own briefly against someone who had trained with one all his life and could freeze blaster fire mid-air.

New type of Corona virus infection? The old one is creating enough of a fuck on.

    Star Trek: Picard

Basically, if Picard had proceeded to do a whole lot of fuck all and stayed on his vineyard just getting drunk on wine and talking to Romulan Leprechaun-accent lady the bad guys would have found and wiped out a handful of sims, Hugh would still be alive, Data would be out there somewhere...

    Playstation 5

I like it. Feels a little like something designed when someone was watching Oblivion though. I'm guessing they did away with the seldom-used mousepad thingy as well.

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

It's been an age since I last played the original but I recall having a random encounter every five steps in some parts of the game, which was great if you wanted to max level encounters. Does that mechanic still exist because Cloud seemed to do a great deal of running there without a whole lot...

    Star Trek: Picard

Maybe the AI was linked to the Discovery version. Tentacles ahoy! It does seem a little lazy making the protagonist in Discovery S2 an AI and also for the first series of Picard. The Matrix was a fantastic movie but it seems like we've been stuck with bullet-time and tentacley AI enemies...

    Borderlands 3

Sounds like you're describing The Lob. Used to be garbage, then they buffed it to the gills and it trivialised most encounters so the nerf bat felleth and now it's back to underwhelming. The latest DLC looks like it has some nice guns in it and I think you receive a class mod via the story arc...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

I guess the problem is you're stuck between Prae and Castrum. If there were remotely any of the other 50 encounters it might be more bearable. I'm sure I've had Westwind before but that may not have been as an MSQ as I don't think there were any cutscenes to sit through on that, just pop up text.

Maybe taking out the mandatory cutscenes because that was such a great idea.

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

Square asking their fans not to spoil it for others equates to a hard, "Please keep silent at how underwhelming this is as it it'll hurt sales". I don't want to see anyone lose this jobs especially with the rest of the stuff that's going on but Square really needs to stop trying to blatantly...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Quick question, one of the biggest hangups for me whenever I return is the sheer amount of garbage I have across my two retainers. They're both full to bursting and my backpack usually has around 5 slots max left in it, usually due to my Armoury Chest overflowing. How do you guys manage it...

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

It's showing that message on the UK Amazon site. Wonder if that will have a knock-on effect on game deliveries. As this is S-E and they always seem to do everything in a dick-achingly dumb way are we certain they send a digital download code on launch day?

    Star Trek: Picard

Seems 2020 is going to be the year of shitloads of spaceships all sitting side by side in space. First Rise of Skywalker and now Picard. I wonder if it becomes as tiringly overused as bullet time.

While I kind of like the idea of different holograms for different roles I kind of feel they let some focus group feedback push them too far down that route. I mean, the E in the acronym stands for Emergency right. An Emergency Hospitality Hologram? Really?

    Everquest - Live Servers

While I acknowledge EQ is clunky as shit if there was a catch up route similar to FFXIV where I could pay to be bumped to level 100 say and be backflagged etc, I'd cough up a fair chunk of cash for that.

    Doctor Who

I foolishly watched the very last episode. Such utterly shit writing. Are we supposed to assume the woman who found the Timeless Child kept killing her/him to force regenerations or that the child just kept dying really young and that the explorer who was going full Doctor Mengele on her just...

Do you think the actors ever reflect on the obvious signs the movie they're making is going to be utter arse-gravy?

    Everquest - Live Servers

They're genius ideas because they get dumb, lazy folks to pay twice for a game. It's like paying RL cash for exp pots. You're literally paying to not have to play the game you're already paying a sub to play.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

I don't know why that game copped so much flak. I enjoyed it despite the fuck on of trying to levitate out the holes.

    Doctor Who

An additional potential downside to this whole shitshow will be people commenting on Jodie Whittaker's Doctor will be the longest running one in 70 years time when they take this off the air and the odd octogenarian neckbeard still talks about it. It's like the closing of a moebius loop though...

So, just a ratings speedbump. One thing this show has reinforced, nostalgia is a cruel mistress.

    Star Trek: Picard

Yeah, pleased it wasn't just me who had a wtf moment at that. I'm guessing she can rewrite the program somehow because she's a nerdy, wacky character even if Rios presumably doesn't grant access to all parts of his ship's workings to random passengers. I mean, he seems a trusting guy.

    Star Trek: Picard

Are you forgetting all the episodes in Voyager with the Vidiians harvesting people's organs, skin, etc because of the Phage? That one episode where everyone's favourite, Neelix, had his lungs removed was pretty dark.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020)

I tried reading Doctor Strange when I was a kid but the writing was all over the shop. I swear you had to be off your tits for it to make any sense. I was kind of spoiled though, the comics coming out of Britain back then, predominantly 2000AD, had some of the best writing and art I've ever seen.
