You claimed there that the amount of Steam players created a "huge influx". Look at the graph. That shows a steady decline of players in the game over this time you are claiming you see MORE people in it. Once a game goes up on Steam, that's the biggest boost of sales they are ever going to...

One question for you. If you've got a choice between one game that's practically a sandbox with open-world PvP and another that's practically nothing like a sandbox with instanced, limited PvP, which one would you choose based on that?

Don't gloss over Steam's huge influx of players too quickly! I want to hear more about that. Last 30 Days 1,104.2 -143.5-11.50%2,201 So on July 23, they had 2,931 active players. Yesterday as the last full day they had 932. I know there's school and all but man.. those numbers sure don't...

It depends on the game and the structure. In TOR, there's autologout at about 15 minutes of non-movement. In FFXIV, there's no autolog at all (although there was one at launch to allow people into the jammed servers). DCUO will log you out. TSW will log you out (that I remember), etc etc...

For at least the first four years, there wasn't much choice in the matter in how a player looked in FFXI. Not sure when you played but there wasn't any type of wardrobe system at all during that time so of course you couldn't have your character's appearance as a motivating factor as Mithra with...

Possibly, you have the same thing in SWTOR basically... a lot of dress up and roleplaying. Kind of funny that between SWTOR and FFXIV, you could make the argument that it's really what most gamers what given how successful both are doing and it's a huge part of both of them. FFXIV is now one...

I think they like to have some diversity between them and the other mmo communities is my guess. The FF fans weren't the biggest participants in third party programs (wasn't a huge cry for them in FFXI as basic as that game is/was) and the subscription base seems very healthy so I doubt they...

Depends when NCSoft spends millions on Defiance, End of Nations, Warface and Trove equivalents that almost bankrupt their company so that they have to think outside of the box.

The only reason I posted/quoted is to keep everything in perspective not as a "Gotcha!". Hope you didn't take it that way. As extremely, impossibly and utterly moronicly rare a crafted piece asthatis you listed as an example, it's not the best example to use. Very few people in this entire...

Your original question: Unless we are talking about two different things (which is entirely possible), to make a glamour of a piece of armor you want to replace the current looks of your existing armor, you do not need any materia. I make that stuff almost everyday. You get the recipe from...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Glamour doesn't even take materia, so no need to lump that in with this at all. Zodiac weapons are being designed to be the best longterm weapon available in the game; over time and building each phase it will be stronger than any drop.. at least that's what Yoshi plans for it. So someone not...

That's the point, they didn't change the materia system at all. It's still a very integral part of the game. They just made it more difficult to attain. You said you just started and honestly, wearing any pink gear you find from either doing leves (treasure chests or rewards) or drops in...

The 'best you can be'? Didn't realize I was signing up fer the Army or watching Men In Black. The dungeons we are talking about are easily crushed with a full left side of i90, which is easily crushed out by running Hunts (which btw, is more broken than the spiritbinding shit) for a week...

Continuation of the Flashpoint storyline of the traitor Sith and Republic guy that teamed up, basically the Revanites trying to take over. You have that new expanded Flash and that's about it, no PvP additions. There also is the Guild Starship conquest stuff but if you don't have a guild...

    SWTOR

Agree. But the good news is (on two fronts) that: 1. Lots more people to run them now because of returning leveling players and vet players 2. Overgearing makes them a trifle now. You can even solo things like Emperor now with a decent healing companion which isn't hard to get or just blast...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Absolutely hate what they did with the spiritbinding. Now you have to actually match your level 45 Gathering ring with the 'appropriate level dungeon' or you get little to no binding. Kind of dumb because the kind of materia that you usually made doing that (level IIs and IIIs) was already...

Bought a Tatooine Stronghold for 2.5 million credits, which was an easy thing to do. The land area in that thing is humongous, but the customization is on par with a EQ2 Stronghold where you have a bunch of places to put almost anything. The difference is there is so much room that you basically...

If a PLD isn't queuing for instant dungeons in order to spiritbind (instead of soloing mobs), they are doing it wrong. Not only is it far too slow and you pass on free myth/desynthing loot, that +3 ring and any other spiritbinding accessories are bullshit. Don't waste time with that stuff. If...

This. So much code. The funny thing is that the people who don't like what's been shown of a alpha/alpha are bringing those bias out really fast. They didn't want 'cartoony'; they wanted gritty. They didn't want 'action-y'; they wanted tab targeting. They didn't/don't want SOE doing it; they...

Last I remember seeing, they had around 500k subs and 1.7 F2P after they converted. Wonder if it would be assuming too much to say they have 300-350k subs now? If so, that's pretty fantastic. Probably not the 1 million they would have hoped for this time from launch, but that would put it...

This isn't a PvP game, but you knew that going in so to expect the PvP gearing to make any sense when even in real PvP games they often times don't.... /shrug. Not very rantworthy to complain about PvP issues in a PvE centric game. It's basically a distraction and change of pace type thing. No...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Yeah, the game's writers are really on the ball as a crew. Tons of little things and the language isn't PG rated which is refreshing change of pace. When you're doing quests and you see the NPC's say things like "I don't even have time for a piss?", makes it pretty realistic dialogue wise. I...
