I did exactly this a week or so ago. Forge did me in. I have nearly 1700 hours in that game (was unemployed for 8 months). That was mostly due to the people I played with making it fun.

Try not to get hit ;) Seriously though, I attack from range and almost never get rushed to the point that they make it to me. Running Sharpshooter with the backpack mod that helps you to not consume ammo repair packs.

I use cluster seeker mines and hive to revive personally. Mines are a great opener, as well as pointing out where NPCs are, and hive can save the day. Specialization is really up to you, they all seem to be pretty good. YMMV. I have been pretty stoked about cosmetics, I had one dye for my gear...

Wait, NM. Misunderstood what you were talking about. Yes it is pretty fucked up that they made T4 immediately available. The other tiers just felt like "why bother".

Post invasion - 6 Missions 2 for each stronghold. We invited people to T4 and dropped loot on them. Then we did all 6 missions then the 3 strong holds to get people to T4 fast.

Bounties are quick, you have 15 minutes to complete it from the time you pick it up. It gets marked on a map, go there kill and profit.

If you have already done the missions and run them again with someone that has not, you get specialization points. Saving them to do with others helps them out if they have done it. Not sure if that is the only way to get specialization points.

Hit 30 tonight, still have a ton of stuff to do. Have not finished the story line yet. Do all of the side missions and stuff go poof when the story swaps the map?

If they ever fix Ranger (and the game) I would say go for that. There is a component that gives + to impact and blast, but blast overrides impact from doing anything for that piece currently. At this point I am only following the game due to just how much of a cluster fuck it is.
