    EVE Online

Community manager is pretty low on the totem pole, not sure what sort of in game advantages she could provide. I love the choice for the popcorn value, should be fun some stuff to read about down the road due to this.

Falling out of love with gaming

Bridge seems a lot more interesting than magic, but the complexity without pretty pictures makes it harder to market (well.. no marketing really) to new players. Many of the top MTG players pick up bridge at some point when the variance gets too annoying.

Main money card from that era are the dual lands I think. Some other cards are worth some money as well, probably quickest to just go to a pricing site for the sets you have and look for high $$ cards and see if you have any of them.

hrmm, starting to get back into magic and looking for cards that look interesting. Voice of Resurgence seems like a great card out of dragon's maze. Unfortunately, everyone else seems to think so as well40-50$ per copy, bleh. Thinking about just liquidating rotating stuff now instead and idling...

next patch looks amazing... health changes and some awesome sounding longer races. I wish they had some appealing stuff in their cash shop tho. I have plenty of stash spots and in game looks never really interested me.

The block after theros would be the 2014 fall set I mentioned.... M15 also being a possibility because then the overlap would be minimal and they get a bunch into circulation but get to yank it out after just 15 months instead of 24.

Hex: Shards of Fate TCG - Set 7: Frostheart 6/29/17

I'd assume that some will drop as the timer hits 1 and 2 days left. I'm sitting on mine debating whether or not I really want to drop $250 in a game that probably won't keep my interest more than a few months. Not guaranteeing I'm going to drop, but it is possible (and I'll probably post here...

    Star Trek - Into Darkness

That was an amazingly terrible movieIt felt like a generic action/space movie that had very loose ties to star trek and none of the things that made me like TNG, DS9, etc. Gf and I both walked out with the feeling that the best part was the Leonard Nimoy cameo and no real desire to see the next...

I'd be pretty surprised if fetches weren't in M15 or the 2014 fall set that will make RtR rotate out. I doubt they want to have fetches and shocks in standard at the same time, but the mana base cost is a pretty obvious problem and they've already addressed half of it with shocks in RtR.

The continuing price spike is confusing imo. The EV of a box (and more importantly, EV of shit you actually care about or can sell/trade easily) is going to be way south of what they are selling for atm.

Falling out of love with gaming

Mid 20s were a turning point for me with games. For the past 5 years, I definitely don't get sucked in the way I used to. Typically I'll play a game till I get what it is about and what it brings to the table.. and then move on. I don't think this is an MMO thing either, as I get way less sucked...

Hex: Shards of Fate TCG - Set 7: Frostheart 6/29/17

Video was hilarious. Both were using MTG terms and one of the cards was called murder with the same casting cost and text on the card as the magic one and the color was Blackood. I'll probably stick with the pro player tier, but it seems less likely to be easy to resell to get my money back if I...

    Board Games

I picked up Twilight Struggle this past weekend. Not sure why I took so long to get it, as its the best 2 player board game I've played. Ever. Super fun 2 player game, and the girlfriend mentioned she's been thinking about the game even when we aren't playing which is pretty rare for her. 7...

Zendikar is kind of an absurd example to hold up anyway. You'd have to go back to the original Ravnica to find equivalent booster box prices, with many sets that were significantly less desirable in the interim. It doesn't seem hard (imo) to be smart and keep your overall collection value...

Hex: Shards of Fate TCG - Set 7: Frostheart 6/29/17

Hrmm, saw a pro player spot open up and snagged it. Can always drop down to King (my likely landing spot) later.

Hex: Shards of Fate TCG - Set 7: Frostheart 6/29/17

Be interesting to see how funding goes after grand king sells out and the attractive 250/500/1000 options are gone... it doesn't seem like there'd be much reason to go above King which will probably slow things down.

Hex: Shards of Fate TCG - Set 7: Frostheart 6/29/17

Some random elements are fine, but complexity coming from the interactions of various cards seems a lot more interesting than "Sorry, you won't draw mana this time. Goodbye". When people are awful, you can frequently push through some bad luck and win 2 of the 3 games. However, at the higher...

Age of Wushu/Wulin - US Open Beta

My sister has gotten into this game and convinced me to try it. The tutorial was godawful, but there seems to be potential for fun pvp stuff later on. As she is in the beggar school, are there any schools that would pair well with that?

What is all this "gluten-free" shit?

I think this article has a reasonable summation of what is going on:http://www.marinhealthyliving.com/?p=869 Basically, wheat today is significantly different from the past. I played around with Paleo and felt significantly healthier, had more energy, etc. Nowadays I try to focus on eating...

Backwards Compatibility - Is it really that important?

I still go back and play old PC games occasionally. Hell, I used to boot up XCOM again every 2-3 years although that might finally be over with. I wish I could do the same with some console games, although tbh I'm less worried about it with the PS3 to PS4 transition than I was with the PS2 to...

Hex: Shards of Fate TCG - Set 7: Frostheart 6/29/17

Wizards outsources almost all of their software dev to India. I was talking to a Dev who was the last guy left a year or so ago and he was managing outsourced resources rather than actually coding much himself and he hated it and was looking for a job. Back on topic: The 3 tiers that I'm...

Hex: Shards of Fate TCG - Set 7: Frostheart 6/29/17

Seems like it could be cool, although I'd really like to see some PvE movies. The demo movie that is visible right now just seemed like a gigantic MTG ripoff, with all the exact same concepts but using slightly different wording (speed instead of haste, exhaust instead of tap, etc). I might end...

    Runes of Magic

Seemed mildly entertaining until I realized the multiclass system blows. You can't switch your classes like FF11, so you pick primary, pick secondary, and you are done. Meh. Was mildly fun to play for a few hours but not worth sinking lots of time into.

    Diku MUD

While MUDs (Aardwolf and Shadows of the Mind were the two I played) definitely had some negative impact on my focus on school, they've also provided a lifelong fast typing speed that I appreciate even today. I still type at ~110 WPM despite not having played in many years. I really enjoyed...

    EQ Never

What about people who just don't give a flip about trying to be predictable with playtimes anymore? I haven't played WoW since early Cataclysm (and not seriously since BC), but the LFR possibility seems like a good match to a busier adult schedule where your free time can be unpredictable. I...

    EVE Online

Nerfing tech (holy shit this took a while) should make it a lot more possible. Right now the major powers can have their tech, it is easy to defend since it is consolidated locally, and they don't want to piss of the other powers because they are living/holding tech right next door. Still...

University of Houston 3 Day Startup: Market Validation

Fun idea. I would have aimed at making the schools the target audience, with an export option to make a version of the syllabus that can then be read by student's smartphones and added to their calendars (free app for the students). Either way works tho. You should post here again if you get...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

so if you are a certain job you don't have options as to what other classes to do the multiclass thing with? Aka no white mage/ninja? Not sure if I like or dislike that, just curious. As long as you can switch jobs (obviously needing to level each individually) it seems okay.

    Fuck Comcast

The one and only downside about moving to Seattle from the shithole that was Oklahoma was having to move from Cox (very solid in OKC) to Comcast. Rift: Planes of Telara

Hrmm, +1 Sad. 3 main reasons I moved on from Rift very quickly: 1) It felt like they were copying WoW, and thus very likely to do the "level cap increase, all your gear is now shit!!" bullshit that made it easy to leave WoW. 2) Souls felt way too similar to classes with the ability to spec...

    EVE Online

While I love the fact that losing in Eve has consequences, I think the "lose everything in the blink of an eye" is a bit dramatic. Personal assets are usually pretty safe, with w-space being a bit of an exception. Even then, I keep 98% of my assets in highsec and just pvp ships in w-space so...
