Tried this. Didn't even make it through the training. Thankfully I was playing on some kind souls account and didn't drop $30 on it. I see now why they don't have a trial. They want you to buy this dated clunky shit before you get to see how bad it is. Not sure where the screens are from but...

I agree with some of what you wrote but not sure how you are getting those numbers. ($50/game - 30% steam cut) * 430k players = 15m roughly. That said I think 430k players for a niche game like this is unrealistic. Probably more like 100-150k with possible growth down the line assuming you make...

Even when betas/alphas were completely free you always had people who didn't get an invite willing to pay for a key. It isn't like the perceived value materialized overnight. They just figured out how to capitalize on it.

It looks like this is all based on old world? If so that would make the lack of spectre pets make sense. Kunark lvl 60 pet was the first spec. Necro pets did kick and lifetap but they were still little more than a super efficient DoT. Not sure why you want them to be more than that.

I don't think time based skill training and FTP is the greatest combination. I would imagine everyone still playing has 10 accounts. EDIT: apparently it isn't that bad. At least you have to buy the game and you train faster if you pay a sub. Game needs a trial. I would give it a shot.

I havent played it yet but, assuming its like live, set it to reactive and it will heal you early. Also, assuming mercs are as OP as I remember in old content I would just run a tank merc. He will slaughter everything.

What I was saying about alpha loot had to do with how a system will emerge among players for items like that. They can put in some way to make sure they are evenly distributed if they want but I don't see the point. It is just more hand holding. FFXI loot system wouldn't be bad either...

Alpha loot works pretty well with CB belts on p99. Not to mention stuff like that won't have much value at launch.

Is a LFG tool that much different from being able to type /who all 30 35 lfg? I really don't see the problem as long as it doesn't auto build a group for you and stick you together with randoms.

Not a big fan of P2W add-ons but I do see it as necessary at this point. He got me for $5 extra simply because I hate not being ahead of the masses leveling when a game is released. Not that this will be released. Just trying to stay somewhat hopeful at this point.
