It is very true in bfa. Their zone stories all focus around the looming treat in uldir so with the build up the first raid ties it all together. The alliance has three different stories non of which tie together very well then suddenly you are told to go to uldir which is barely if ever mentioned.

leveling in legion is fast. If you catch a zone invasion its bonkers XP. Legion is just below WOD for how fast you can burn through it now if you want to.

Sounds like pathfinder this time is based just on renown so in theory if you do the content you like doing it should unlock for you without having to go out of your way or do random rep grinds to acquire it which seems reasonable.

WOD had plenty of faults but the zones and leveling quests/story were not one of them. It wasn't until you reached max level that stuff kinda fell apart. I do agree that lich king also had some awesome leveling zones the music in lich king was great I always loved the grizzly hills theme.

Every legion spec weapon was a single hard locked ability you could never change. Covenants may or may not be great but you do have choices and changing is possible. Some legion abilities were amazing but some were pretty Dull. Some really made your rotation and some were pretty forgettable.

If you are not going to do high end raiding/high key mythics play whatever faction you want. Otherwise in the US if you want to maybe do those things you pretty much need to go horde.

The conduits look better than I thought. You can flex them pretty quickly and the balance seems overall pretty reasonable. So pretty easy to redo those for each spec without too much problem.

I think the reputation thing they are doing is kind of their place holder/catchup so if you switch covenant you get that level worth of stuff unlocked. So switching back and forth could potentially be not that bad.

They at least seem to be going it in a logical way this year not having to basically rebuy it fully again if you got the digital collectors edition earlier.

Legion was super unfriendly for the bulk of it to playing other specs. Your AP was locked to each specs specific weapon so getting your legendaries/AP/relics for multiple specs was annoying as fuck

I think the fix probably is making at least semi frequent covenant switching available. I know they want to avoid that but I don't think they are going to be able to. The bulk of players it really does not matter too much to and won't really effect but it has some nasty impacts on the bleeding...

Oh I am sure mythic raiders will do it for anybody not doing that content none of the covenant abilities seem powerful enough to bother with that. Worst case its just another button to press that does a bit of damage.
