I feel like shields worked really well until around mid-game, and then started holding me back. Granted, I also didnt have a greatshield with a ton of guard boost either, so I'd run out of stamina and get killed pretty quickly, that's why I ended up going 2-handed with the buckler on standby.

If anything I'll just change certain talismans, like remove the health after critical one in exchange for one that ups damage, for the most part I fight the bosses the same way I deal with trash. Some may take a little longer, but it usually doesn't matter much.
