SOE Becomes Daybreak / Russian shutdown

Hundreds of millions have already been spent on EverQuest Next. Columbus Nova obviously got a deal buying the company, but I can't imagine they just throw that investment to the wayside. I think you're right, if they wanted to go in a completely different direction - it would have been much...

SOE Becomes Daybreak / Russian shutdown

I can't imagine they purchased SoE with plans to scrap EQNext. It seemed like the only thing they had going for them on the horizon. H1Z1 is fun, but I don't think it will be nearly as profitable as a full MMO can be.

Their entire UI is pretty shitty, to be honest. They're just lucky that their competition is ArmA/DayZ, which is even worse.

Probably had the most gear I've ever had. Had a small little base set up. And I log on and my character immediately dies for absolutely no reason. Fuck this game.

Finally ran into my first obvious hacker. Just teleported to me, started punshing the crap out of me. I killed him, but bled out before I could heal. My buddy loots my stuff, but guy appears out of no where punching him. He ends up kill the guy twice, before he's finally killed by punches...

Maybe it's just me, but I think this game and system would work better without a currency. Get into a world, a determine the value of things based on the scarcity of the resources (which should vary for each iteration). I also think a bartering system compels people to interact beyond just...

I'm really sort of torn with this idea. First, I think it's a pretty ingenious method to creating that 'rush' that comes with a fresh start. However, a lot of my concern lies with how the Eternal Kingdoms will function. As it stands now, it basically sounds like a virtual lobby, with a...

I've come to the realization that these pre-built bases are stupid, and they should have created a system where you take over and fortify existing structures. Like you said, many people are doing this with the bases now. I think it was on Deadwood, but someone created a platformed base that...

It looks like all the worlds will have full inventory loot, so it's actually beneficial to wear your best items and not bag them. It's only on the less restrictive servers that you can lose your equipped items (and inventory). Seems like a decent design. Never makes sense to take off weapons...

I don't watch much MMA, but that was kind of boring. The Diaz guy didn't seem to have any idea what to do. The announcers touted him as a volume puncher and he barely tried to cut off the ring.

Well, from what we've seen of crafting materials, it makes little sense to restrict crafting materials to specific worlds because they're primarily for specialization, and will be valued differently based on class, role, etc. However, I 100% agree that the Dregs (FFA) should provide higher...

Hah. Pretty good interpretation. I've been debating with a lot of the ex-Shadowbane players over there and they won't agree to any compromise. They insist that the best loot should drop exclusively in the Dregs (FFA). I agree FFA should provide better rewards since there is higher risk - but...

The game of Rampant SpeculationT has been kind of fun, but it's insane some of the shit people on the official forums have been running with. The Shadowbane players are in near panic mode as each info drop reveals the game isn't Shadowbane reborn.

That's my understanding of it. Here's the quote from the Devs: So there will still sorta be a Trinity, but it's going to be 'Support' instead of 'Healer'. In League of Legends, there's many different kinds of Supports, and many of them don't heal at all. I know it's a much different game, but it...

  24. Teekey

    Crowfall

I fully understand the concern over lack of Trinity in a game with PvE, but it doesn't seem like nearly as big of an issue in a strictly PvP game. There's some speculation that the multiple worlds are going to be time limited psuedo-Battlegrounds. Still so much we don't know, but the Export...

I'm really curious about the Export Rules. Obviously I assume that it means moving resources and materials to another world - but on the Guild vs Guild world, there's a qualification that affects how much you can export. The conditions being Win, Kneel, Lose. It makes me feel like you can...

I like the idea of little healing. With healers, it just becomes manadatory to deal with the healer first at all times. With support, it may be better to take them out first, but it's not necessarily required. I'm not sure why people want/expect the Trinity in a PvP game. The multiple...

One idea I've seen tossed around is that world's are eventually depleted of resources so you can't just have a foothold on a world forever. Of course, you'd still carry over some advantage, but it would lower the gap.

Ran around for an hour trying to scavenge and kill zombies. Found a grand total of 3 water bottles, 1 lighter, and like 10 All Purpose Goggles. Only ran into 3 people the entire time too, all with just basic gear. This game can be extremely exciting, or dull as shit.

Hah, on some of my characters that I play a bandit on, I've been hunted down or killed on sight by people because of my 'reputation'. I agree though. I don't think they should regulate behavior whatsoever, but they could provide more tools to aid players in dealing with different 'social'...
