    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Well, I'm glad at least some of my work meets with your approval. Not sure why you guys care so much when you don't play here anymore. Even if it were not a rule, Stairs could easily remove it. I made it a rule not just for you, but for us. It will not remain as-is in fact. Lets not...

EQ F2P- Returning Players & Current Content

The launcher seems to have a bug in it. I've been editing eqhost.txt and changing Host=lvseq-live-l01.everquest.com:15900 to Host=lvseq-test-l01.everquest.com:15900 and the reverse. Curse this tiny SSD or I'd just copy the entire folder.

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

As I said, we disabled some items to prevent raid drops from becoming worthless. People are wearing their planar armor and they'll be wearing their kunark sets and they'll be wearing their ToV armor. Melee are currently using yaks and bloodfires and not the Kithicor weapons. The Kunark...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

We do disable some items. Kithicor Dark Elf drops were disabled for example. The crafted armor added in late Luclin were disabled. I'm disabling a few of the revamped Chardok loot as I do those tables. I certainly don't want weapons as good or better than VP ones dropping from Chardok named...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Haynar put in new melee mitigation code months ago. I'm still collecting data for a final revamp, but because it takes multi-hour logs for each data point, it's taking months. (I've generated about 1 gig of logs so far) Harnar's code is actually mitigating too much, but the hit rate of NPCs...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Haynar keeps tinkering with things, so I'm hopeful he'll figure out how to make the client more stable. He recommends using a wired connection (as opposed to wi-fi) and ensuring the connection is uncongested. Apparently even p99 has desyncs in zones with 200+ players in them and wired...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

We're aware desyncs can happen, but they tend to be rare and happen most often in large raids as far as we know. The problem we have is that nobody reports them. We can only assume that it's a rare phenomena when people don't bring the issue up. Reports are important to distinguish between...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

You'll have to be more specific regarding 'shit that doesn't work'. People are playing and raiding, and there are workarounds to particular issues. I used to 8 box raids on Al'Kabor using the PC client, including two clients on a netbook. Stuff like no target rings and no mouse zoom are...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Policy wise the biggest difference is that TAKP has staff mandated rotations for the major raid targets. (just nag/vox right now, not planes trash) We have a 3 account limit, but that may be relaxed in the future if people make enough noise about it. (don't hate me for saying this Speedz)...

    New Progression Server confirmed

I just happen to have a Jan 2000 log of a mage pet. That's in-line withPet Guide - Project 1999 Wiki. The major difference I can see on Live is that all pets summon at the max level. A 49 mage summon pet max hits for 56 today. (EQLive2015 Pet Statistics Lvl1-65 - Google Sheets) Also, as far...

    Project 2002 - The Age of Al'Kabor - release date 3/21/15

TAKP is a bit understaffed; Cavedude was the only one doing gameplay code until I started chipping in. I wasn't even looking into code issues until somewhat more recently. Cavedude has work projects that take him away from TAKP for long periods of time. I signed up to be a database guy but...

    Project 2002 - The Age of Al'Kabor - release date 3/21/15

You missunderstood me. I did not mean that these fixes aren't issues that need addressing, just that they aren't worth getting worked up on message boards over. You could easily just tell us 'mend should stop failing at 100 instead of 200' which would be almost as valuable as committing that 1...

    Project 2002 - The Age of Al'Kabor - release date 3/21/15

ZEMs were taken directly from packet data. If any ZEM is wrong, feel free to list the precise zones and values. ZEM values are really a long known thing that shouldn't be disputed, really. Some zones were flagged as hot zones mistakenly because some of the database was imported from PEQ...

    New Progression Server confirmed

It's pretty laughable. I recently got involved making commits to an EQEmu fork. (TAKP) The last thing I did actually was to make NPCs only proc on hits instead of also misses. There are tons of gameplay errors like that in the code. Reviewing the code actually made me appreciate the work...

    New Progression Server confirmed

Most p99 users haven't been playing for 4 years. I was one of the first 60s there, and I quit 4 months after Kunark launched. I came back for brief periods and re-quit. P99 gets a continuous stream of new players who finally give in and try out what they had long thought couldn't be a good...

So I'm in the middle of working on hateplane for TAKP emu, and I noticed magelo had some data on the old hateplane NPCs which were added in 2011. I'm guessing the Vulak server had the old hate NPCs put in hateplaneb for the earlier expacs. Does anybody who played on Vulak have any hateplane...

If you guys are going to start actively doing research, parsing, and data analysis, then may I suggest some level of collaboration? I don't really care who runs what servers as much as I care about preserving the game and making the emus (all of them) an accurate recreation. I'm only going...

Incidentally I'm doing extensive pet parsing on Live currently. It's important for me to know how pets have changed over the years to make the best use of the data. How exactly are Live pets different from classic? Comparing the pet HP data in this thread:EQClassic.org View topic - Pet...

EQ F2P- Returning Players & Current Content

Sometimes skills will simply refuse to go up on test dummies for me. I can go out into the PvP area and attack a merc and they will go up there, but not on dummies. No idea what causes it to stop. Incidentally weapon skills are also raising so slowly I have to leave my character on...

EQ F2P- Returning Players & Current Content

Two questions for the long-time Test players: Why does attacking a test dummy NPC in the arena stop giving skillups after awhile? And how do you perma-leave General chat? Listening to that channel for 2 minutes makes me want to kill myself and typing /leave all every single login is...

    The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Speedz denies moving any loot around. I'm not involved with GM decisions, and frankly I find out more about what's going on from players than I do other staff a lot of the time, but you are conveniently omitting relevant information. Really, you guys account share far too easily. I don't...

I really don't like the 'keep bans private' policy either. But here you're free to say whatever you wish, so feel free to explain why this server isn't worth playing on. Everybody who gets banned always plays the corrupt card. Explain why this time is different.

***STEP BY STEP to connect to the Al'Kabor server***

Abacab's client includes many unnecessary files. The size of only the required files totals around 2.1 gigabytes. Using the file list found in this post:http://www.takproject.net/forums/vie....php?f=26&t=77I created a batch file that copies only what is required to play on TAKP. Create a...

You need to get a frame rate limiter. If you have an Nvidia card, you can use Nvidia Inspector. Otherwise I recommend MSI afterburner (works with non-MSI cards). Dxtory also works. If you don't use a frame rate limiter, your client will render the game at ridiculously high frame rates, like...

When this server gets VP, you can thank Fifey for it being anywhere near accurate. I got some good data using his paladin. And while I'm here, if anybody has any old log files from AK or PC EQ circa 1999-2003, I'd love copies. See...

EQ F2P- Returning Players & Current Content

Thanks but I got the info of a level 96 SK so I'm set. Cazic Touch mitigates down to a mere 65k damage with full spell shield and the mobs are in a classic zone and the melee damage is negligible, so it's really just a matter of having not much more than 65k hp and some sort of non-damaging...

IB was 'Transatlantic Rampage' by then which somehow they typed with a keyboard while submitting their new guild name. I made an iksar to log into to do /whos in LOIO every day, and TR and their butt-buddy guild (forget the name) still had control of the camp long after I hit 60. Musta been...

This is a long shot but I figure I have nothing to lose by asking. I need to borrow an account with a very high level character capable of withstanding Cazic Touch (the 100k death touch) on the Test server. (or Trakanon I suppose since I have a couple of heroic characters there) The...

Project 1999 - Making Norrath Great Again

Being able to 'give' camps away to buddies instead of camps going to the guy who got there second and sat his character in the room for many hours waiting for the first guy to leave was a ridiculous policy and was entirely to blame for that nonsense.

Project 1999 - Making Norrath Great Again

Not sure. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a warning, because I recall Uthgaard doing a broadcast telling everybody about the bannings, and that everybody should know that targeted AoEs should hit a limited number of targets. (really, anybody who played a wizard on live should know)
  36. T

Project 1999 - Making Norrath Great Again

The exploit they used was that Wizard snare was hitting unlimited targets, so they had a wizard spam that to keep aggro while they meleed with PBAoE weapons. I maintain that bard songs are aggroing way too much on p99 but it's not nearly so easily proven and not really as much of an exploit.

Oh great, after I kill my wrist finally getting a decent (but not great) tasker and theo they make them worthless. I get it-- DHs were dog shit for 2 years and now Blizzard decides to put them back where they belong after a 4 month run of not being shitty. Not surprised in the least; typical...

Project 1999 - Making Norrath Great Again

Actually most (not all) Luclin bosses have even lower combat regen than Velious ones-- almost non-existent regen. At least on Live right now. It was so low I couldn't accurately measure it because the health bar wouldn't update even after a couple of hours.

Project 1999 - Making Norrath Great Again

Which mobs supposedly had high combat regen? I've yet to find one or read about one. Not counting mobs that had lifetap abilities. Currently on live, most ToV dragons have 30 hp/tick combat regen. Some have 26. Eashen and Ikatiar have 100. I need some good evidence to convince me that...
