    EQMac Now Free to Play

Heh, well I played a wizard from 1999 to 2004. I also started up a warrior in late Kunark/early Velious period, that eventually became my guild's MT, but I kept boxing the wizard. So I had a raid geared tank + wizard to do PBAoEing with. The thing about wizards is, the better you are at the...

I'm so addicted to classic EQ. This is what a free to play classic server that allows boxing seduced me to do: That was before I got a Jyll's spell on my wizards. (or even color slant on the enchanters) I hit 56 last night for the 2nd Jyll's, and mobs are melting. I'm raking in the...

I hashed keyboard.txt on my problem machine and a machine that doesn't have the problem, and they were identical. I checked for the file in the fresh titanium install folder that I kept a copy of, and it wasn't there. Nor was it in the EQMac web install folder. Looking at the file date...

Also, can somebody try recording video of the game using MSI afterburner and see if the audio is also captured? I tried everything but can't get it to record the game's audio. However when I run another game at the same time as EQ, it will record EQ's audio along with the audio of that other...

So I have a little problem with the PC client that's been bugging me since I installed it. My apostrophe/quotes key, left bracket, and equals keys do not work in the game; my backslash outputs a right bracket when I press it; and my right bracket outputs a left bracket when I press that. It's...

    EQ Classic? Not really.

The titanium client has target rings, a frame rate limiter, and buff timers to name a few big ones. Even EQ Mac's client doesn't have those. To be honest I've felt that Project 1999 provided a superior game experience because of things like these. I'm all for the old school gameplay, but...

    EQ Classic? Not really.

Speaking of clients, I was just thinking that (and don't hate me for saying this) Tyen might not have had the worst idea in the world to try and get an EverQuest client recreated. If the goal is to keep classic EQ alive, then the next step is to recreate the client after the server is done...

The green proximity aggro level was/is actually around level 18 or 20. Also, non-undead can be trained on people as well; Fansy can attest to that fact. I've had my non-undead pulls aggro on people on EQ Mac and had to heal them off.

This isn't the 1990s anymore dude. This server probably uses less bandwidth than a home cable connection. I played two characters over a single dial-up modem on 50+ player raids 10+ years ago. My upload is now nearly 500K/s and I don't have the expensive cable plan. That is 100 maxed out...

    EQMac Now Free to Play

Well at this point, all it costs them is electricity. Smed making it free to play without adding the usual retarded pay-for-power store bullshit was actually a really nice gesture though. It's something Blizzard would never do. I really, really don't want classic EQ to die. My choice of...

EverQuest uses UDP. The frequency of checks the server does to see if players are within aggro radius of mobs is reduced here. That is normal/classic; I remember sneaking past mobs in dungeons just by running past them quickly. The server code was written for machines from the last millennium...

I've been 6 boxing and I don't notice the lag you describe. My autofollow works fine. It doesn't take 5 seconds to target something. (isn't that client side anyway?) I do get the occasional 1-2 second delay before spells begin casting though, but I've been PBAoEing pulls of 20ish and not...

It has nothing to do with the server. The PC client hack just sort of chokes when a lot of data is sent to the client. You wouldn't see it unless you were raiding or AoEing a lot of mobs.

Has anybody found a remedy to the client lag issue when using the PC hack? My enchanters just turned 44, so I'm starting to PBAoE; and even with small pulls of a dozen or so, I'm getting what looks like packet loss on the latency meter in the corner. I haven't tried larger pulls just yet, but...

I should mention that I lost about an hour's worth of exp. I strongly suggest that people force a save by zoning or camping if they get a valuable drop.

Why in God's name isn't there a broadcast before the server reboots? Or a forced character save? Nothing like dinging 15 seconds before the server goes down, then logging back in and seeing I'm at 74% into the previous level. And those 'soandso saved.' messages are bullshit, because I got one...

Yes, most likely. Your antivirus is probably blocking the hack from working. Secrets (the hack developer) altered functions in the wsock32.dll in EQMac folder. The game is to use that version of the file instead of the one in your Windows\System32 directory, and your antivirus doesn't like...

Well obviously I don't believe PC users on the server is an overall bad thing, as I am trying to help bring more to the server. I want Sony to release an official PC client in fact. I can just understand why Mac users would feel that way. P99 and EQMac have very different communities. Two...

It's kind of hard to blame them when the worst of Project 1999's dregs came to the server. P99 was full of sociopaths. Luckily some of them got banned.

There is also a PC client hack to allow PCs to log in to Al'Kabor so you can play it without a Mac. The original hack was created by Secrets, an EQ Emu dev. It was disabled in a client patch, but a new working hack was created by eqmule, an MQ2 developer. PC client installation instructions...
