I can't verify the accuracy of the statement, but someone said above that the lead artist can't afford to quit his day job - which would suggest that he's either not being paid yet, not being paid enough, or just doesn't have any passion for the project.

For the past 3 years I've been building a fledgling business that is entirely dependent on really cool art and graphics. I've contacted dozens of artists on deviant art to ask them if I could use particular sketches, paintings, etc for commercial and promotional purposes. 9/10 have said yes...
