Yeah it was several years ago. I saw you moved into the space with the ETFs, but i didn't know you were holding the actual asset.

I hesitate to even ask you anything about btc, since you've previously made it clear in several occasions that you aren't a fan. Not sure if you've changed your mind- but isn't your entire post pretty much an advertisement for bitcoin?

Eh, maybe I'll watch ep2 then. Was pretty underwhelmed with ep1. Stale dialog, half-hearted acting, predictable plot points. Didn't really grab me at all tbh. These days I need to feel compelled to watch a second episode in a series and I definitely didn't feel compelled in this case. I...

I got a weird text on my personal phone early last week telling me there was an attempted withdraw from my Coinbase account and if I didn't authorize it I needed to call X number immediately. Obviously, since I'm not a boomer or an idiot I didn't call, but I'm not surprised to hear there was a...

This is the correct take. The names and titles may change, but there will always be an elite few that control the plebs, to one extent or another. It's just the way humans work. Doesn't mean bitcoin won't be valuable- it obviously already is- but the idea that it's going to be the one and...

The global stock markets handle something like a billion transactions per day during peak times (300m-500m normally). I think SOL is the fastest and they can do 65k tps, but they start having stability problems at that point. There are definitely more technically savvy people here who could...

He may not have had all the details right, but his main point is still applicable. The current system is antiquated, overly complicated, bloated with middle men, opaque, and very much rigged to benefit an entire class of people who came into being by preying on retail (Joe Blow) investors. The...

Very much a dabbler myself, and I'm not going to pretend I know a ton about this stuff either but: The idea is to represent ownership of stocks as tokens on a blockchain. You could either back the tokens 1:1 with real shares held in custody (like stablecoins are backed by fiat), or a company...

Tbf like Rangoth mentioned, there are a handful of interesting Alts that show promise for real world use- but 99% of coins out there are pure trash. For example, looking increasingly like they are going to tokenize stocks (among other financial instruments). Who knows what chain they'll use...

True believers believe that fiat currency (such as USD) is rapidly losing value due to inflation, while Bitcoin, a decentralized currency with a limited supply, is rapidly gaining value. A TRUE believer also believes that fiat currencies will essentially become worthless in the near future, and...

Correct. Everyone seems to be stuck thinking the only two possible outcomes are: 1. Things continuing on as they have been for the last 20ish years. Or 2. Global apocalypse. Lots of scenarios in between where btc and gold go way up. In fact we have been in one of those situations for a...

Yeah I have "apocalypse" investments but they don't include gold. In a true collapse we would almost certainly be in a food/raw materials barter system for long time before we got back to a gold as a store of value scenario. And we would have to get through a period a pure chaos before we...

Yeah I know. I'm not expecting to be able to swap my certificates at any point for physical gold tbh. I didn't invest in gold because I expect the world to end. I invested in it because I expect it to go up in price.

I don't know, that's what I'm asking... Part of the issue is it's not just about retail goods produced in China, it's about things built in the US that require various parts and components imported from China (magnets, rare earth stuff, etc.). Apparently there is a whooooole lot of stuff that...

Agree with this logic. Of course the *best* time to buy btc/gold was last year (or even better, 10 years ago), but it doesn't mean it's a *bad* time to buy now- especially if you are looking medium/long term.
