    The Naked Gun (2025)

They're ghost towns.... On the border between my neighborhood and a more Latino/Asian one. Not too many active jogging trails around though. When we recently went to see FF, it was second weekend and there were maybe a dozen total people in the theater. But at least it has an IMAX screen...

    The Naked Gun (2025)

Still haven't managed to make time to go see this, which at this point probably means waiting for VOD or the high seas. One reviewer that tends to have the same opinions as I do about films said this and it has given me some pause... "It's a great imitation of a Zucker and Zucker film, but...

Retirement... (i.e. what are you going to be after you've grown up)

And here's another area of Retirement stuff I don't have near enough knowledge on. I need to learn how IRAs work as you're the third person to mention how self guidance through one is better, and I was unaware I could roll my 401k into one.

I'm still enjoying it, it has a nice spot on my side monitor to keep distracting me from shit I need to get done... And debating if I'll have the wherewithal to hold out for Necromancer.

There is that. Especially since for many "Net Worth" includes a house which they wouldn't want to sell if they had to live in it. Or in the case of some it includes an insane student loan they will carry like a mill stone to their graves...

Yeah.... When I landed in my current gig and realized I was going to stay more than 2 years I finally rolled all my old zombie 401ks into it. Was embarrassed afterwards for having put it off so long when it was really stupid easy to do... As for S&P500 performance. For me it was the...

This is where I'm at right now... Arena 336 , and the land of... F U PINK LADY!!!!! At this point I'm stacking ranks in Wizard after one rank in Zap Power. I've kill her around 50% of the time I see her now. Plan on letting it run overnight to see if I can afford Necromancer in the morning.

I still play WoW passively when I need an "unwind my brain" break. Haven't been an active raider in over a decade. But I somehow still enjoy playing the auction house like it was my personal minigame. @Mrs. Haus and I still duo for farm for mounts occasionally on the weekends. She is the one...

Another thing to remember is that there are probably people reading this thread who aren't actively posting in it. And I can see why. If you're behind the curve on retirement (which I will fully admit I was until I landed a job in sales around 10 years ago that was good enough to help me catch...

I'll admit he has some points. There is probably some internet braggadocio going on in the numbers being thrown around, there's probably also some real case studies. The reason I create this here instead of the investing thread was that I was figuring on hopefully having the best shot at the...

We here at Chez Haus are a house divided on this front. I seem to do better and stay more with a plan when I have a "place to go to work out". Traditionally this has been a gym, and for a while Orange Theory. @Mrs. Haus does best at her plans when she had the gear here at the house. To...

I have to agree with this in that he's a guy who's focused, as you mentioned, on getting the financially illiterate out of the debt slave hole. To which his plans and advice work towards that goal. Yeah, if you've reached a good level of financial literacy then you probably moved into/past...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

There are already organizations doing a "faux" version of this. Where they issue you a "debit card" and each day whatever you charge a transaction sells some of your ETH and covers it. I assume you could do deposits the same way to build up ETH...

Retirement... (i.e. what are you going to be after you've grown up)

I've noticed this, but so far just on larger ticket situations and services. For instance, I am looking at a project I need to get done at my house (replacing the breaker panel) and all the electricians I have gotten quotes from so far have a 3% upcharge if you're using a CC. This was also...

Key note should be that ETH is far better positioned to move into the mythical position of "usable for everyday transaction" thanks for it's speed and additional L2s on top of it.

This is great so long as you pay the whole balance in full before interest charges hit, and don't have some stupid annual fee on the card. It's a game system you can beat with diligence. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that with the amount of crap I buy off Amazon I get 5% back using an Amazon...

This, I believe, breaches into one of the areas of "things have changed and older people just don't grasp how". One example? I remember when I was a kid, one of the reasons my grandfather bought me the first "pc" we had at the house (an Apple ][e) was to be able to help him track his assets...

This is an area I have one concern. I know Alzheimer's is the demon that hunts my family. I am one of those who believes in keeping a 6 month emergency fund when you can. But I agree with you that you don't keep it in cash. At minimum keep it in an interest earning account (I have a flat out "savings" account with some cash in it making 4.2% APY right now) to buffer against...

It's possible, if you're diligent and save. When my wife and I were in our late 30's I also didn't have much in my 401k. (less than what you have, we had some things happen which made me take a payout which was stupid and heavily taxes/penalized). You'll have to buckle down into a recovery...

I'm certainly not saying they shouldn't. Being a US company benefits them in many ways, and unlike some countries we won't arbitrarily nationalize them. I just find it one more step towards the "corporatocracy" dystopia model. At some point a large multinational will be big enough that it...

Yeah, some of it, I think, has to do with letting lifestyle inflation creep in on you. You start making more money and there are things you associate with "well off" and you start doing those, and those cost more than the frugal means you'd been living with. Like when the guy who usually...

I have to watch things because my cardiologist is all kinds of cautious on me because my resting heart rate is around 52-55, and it dips to the low 40's when I sleep. It's why I wear a "smart watch". Been told if I ever see a number starting with a 3 we have to have a pacemaker talk.
