    The D&D thread

Like what? I find 5e (minus the newer, ridiculous stuff) is great for beginners/kids, but not crunchy enough for more advanced and/or older players. That's one of the reasons I started building my own system. I'm curious to know what layers you've built and how they would coincide with the...

    The D&D thread

There are hundreds of alternatives: Shadowrun, Earthdawn, Burning Wheel, Mouseguard, etc. But none of them are close to the size of DnD. PF probably counts as a "competitor" for DnD, but I think it's the only one. I could be missing some though, it's been a long time since I hung out in a...

    The D&D thread

You mean for this "next generation" of gamers who are playing D&D for the first time? If so, I'm sure it will. If tradition holds, D&D might keep a stranglehold on the fantasy genre for TTRPGs, but there will be plenty of popular non-fantasy options. For the record, I'm hoping someone can...

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/crypto-regulation-coming-just-not-this-year-se-cs-pierce-172824069.html SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce expects a proposal on crypto exchanges, but doesn't expect direct crypto regulation to materialize in 2022. Good info here. Also ostensibly good news.

Article is heavy on doomsday prognostications and light on explanations. She's pretty hot for a BTC wonk though. I'm going to go ahead and guess she's just parroting lines from her boss, Alex Adelman. She's also not wrong that normal people would equate a CBDC to BTC, even though a CBDC...

I've noticed most of the people complaining about "Government interference" don't actually read the articles. They stick to the headlines and make assumptions. Government could very well still ruin the cryptocurrency market. I personally don't think it will, but even if it does we aren't there...

It's not executive overreach. It's just bureaucratic machinations. All the executive order does is encourage the formation of a committee tasked with encouraging various federal agencies to form their own committees to study crypto and maybe come up with a few suggestions. And oh, by the way...

I'm familiar with the history of ETH 2.0. From what I'm seeing the only change they are announcing is the name change. Not the timeline or the goals. I was trying to figure out if Torrid had information I hadn't seen yet, or if it was just an assumption based on his BTC bias. I'm not...

The possibility definitely exists that the top coins that end up "making it" if (when) crypto gets mass adoption and ends up powering Web3 aren't in the current top ten or maybe even haven't been created yet. The current top "use case" coins (ETH, BTC, SOL, etc) all have pretty serious issues.

The Wire: Greatest Show Ever Made

I'm not upset. "Progressive" definitely feels closer than "woke" but tbh I don't think The Wire is very progressive either. Both progressive and woke have a political agenda. A political agenda presents a problem and suggests a solution. The Wire just kind of gives us a long, hard look at The...

The Wire: Greatest Show Ever Made

Failing to understand what "woke" is helps keep woke alive. People who call everything woke are as bad as the people who call everything racist. Edit: One of the great things about The Wire is it manages to address serious social issues with depth and honesty, without resorting to "wokeness."

FWIW I tend to agree that the crypto space will ultimately emerge intact (though probably changed) on the other side of these three issues. Your timeline of 2024 or 2025 might even be right. Also the "rocky days ahead" aren't necessarily a bad thing if you change your perspective. They are...

We don't know who Satoshi was or where the entity named Satoshi went. We have no idea what projects he/they are involved with. Satoshi's wallet is still out there with a ton of bitcoins in it. Ethereum has its issues, but BTC has plenty of its own questions and concerns.

Honestly not sure. When the hashrate has dropped significantly before it had a big negative impact on price, but it's hard to tell how much of the impact was due to the hashrate reduction or the bad news surrounding it. China banning BTC mining is the example that comes to mind.
