yeah I only suffered on energy between when I got particle colliders 12.5 MW dick in your ass energy draw and anti matter suns. Now that my dyson sphere is shaping up I got UNLIMITED POWER. I flipped through this vid, from what I saw it's basically what I'm doing now. ILS with a chain of shit...

Oh and one protip i haven't seen: using my programmable mouse and having a button to spam click at 40hz, makes placing structures quickly easy, especially shit like solar panels and windmills but also chains of smelters and replicators.

Been looking at people's layouts, read this guide https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2373611284 Not sure of the point, like, i have more fun making my crazy polar research and sphere creation factories but I don't pretend for a sec they are more efficient than just a string...

Yeah i started shipping them off to a planet with a near sun orbit. Doesn't really matter that much. It's so cheap to make a hundred em ejectors to eject sails opportunistically, much harder to build the sails and sphere components.

Had to modify the Santa Claus' North Pole Research Station to integrate dark matter but I like it better now. I do wish there was a way to have a white ring to move the energy matrices around in, but I think it's impossible unless I mod 4-length long boy sorters.

I was wondering how rare a tidally locked planet was. I'm surprised the EM ejectors aren't more intelligent. I'm building a giant ass dyson sphere, just pick a hole bro.

feeling kinda dumb: how do you set up your orbit and your EM-rail ejectors such that you're guaranteed they can fire regardless of current orbit? I've got a dyson swarm orbit that rotates above the orbital plane but the em rails are still trying and failign to fire at the orbital plane.

    Dyson Sphere Program

I'll typically lay things out with a bunch of space in my spaghetti and only put a few facilities down, then grow as needed. It's a lot easier to learn which replicators / chemical factories suck wind and have long build times by playing than by trying to design it all up front. By the way, in...

    Dyson Sphere Program

The game is unbelievably stable and is feature complete. It features an open sandbox building game with fun graphics and enjoyable mechanics. What the game doesn't really have is a lot of replayability. Once you play it and hit the endgame you've colonized enough worlds that there's very little...

I think that info is mostly in your tech tree but as you're scaling the tech tree the first time you don't have the experience necessary to really process the information. I'd recommend just optimizing for the current problem you have and expect that as you tech up you'll have to either build...

So if you're clever about building, deleting and then remaking bridges you can make perfectly flat bridges. I'm afraid to build this exploit into my factories, but it's too funny to resist.

    Dyson Sphere Program

I feel like that approach is kind of a mental crutch. It's easy because you don't have to consider the spaghetti layout, but it just increases your material/energy cost for all your materials. For whatever reason that tradeoff kind of seems more important when you scale up to infinite research...

    Dyson Sphere Program

I don't think I'd actually want to play a more competitive DSP game where you have a few adversaries like in Anno 1800 (or any number of other builder games), but one fun aspect of that would be coming up with optimized factory layouts that are low-cost, balanced, efficient and fast to lay down...

    Dyson Sphere Program

Yeah, and this approach works great if you really enjoy the gameplay of making the same interstellar gateway + mining + smelting layouts repeatedly. This gets a lot more tolerable with the mod I linked above (I haven't tried it yet).

That's true, but it's a little bit different of a gameplay mechanic than adding infinite veins to specialized planets. If you've got infinite veins on your home planet you can just turtle there and miss a bunch of gameplay relating to expansion.

I can totally imagine them having an adversary in the game, but I can't imagine them not having a sand box mode. I also think they'll add a mode where high resource nodes (ex: iron/copper on lava planets) are infinite to make the game even more low-key relaxing.

Welp. I'm pretty sure my circular research stations above are incompatible with https://dsp-wiki.com/Universe_Matrix which have six inputs and one output. Right now my setup has 5 inputs, zero outputs. I'll still keep with it but will have to find some way to get 6 in, 1 out. Probably using...

Yeah it feels like the sandbox mode of a builder game. The last one I played was Anno 1800 and it has a lot of the same elements as DSP, but with limited resources and aggressive opponents vying for the same resources. In the pre-release of DSP you can land on a world, take your time laying and...

Yeah, the gameplay has a certain weight to it because it's a highly developed system. It kind of falls apart in many ways but there is just a level of depth that's uncommon with other RPGs.

    Unreal Engine 4 (free!)

As a non-artist I've always been ignorantly curious about the difficulty of aligning to a well-developed base level of art assets. Human models are a good case of that where we (as gamers) have used a huge variety of character customization that all seem like re-creations of the same problem...

So once you get good at this game how much does it feel like a game vs executing a build order while playing whack-a-mole (which is how a lot of builder-type games feel to me).

    Warhammer 40,000 Novels

Im 3 books into horus heresy now. I like to read entire series but man, 40 of them and they move so slow. I want to read an abridged version that removes all the whining and tomfoolery that makes me think the astartes are the self indulgent grabasses of fictional warfighters.
